Arsenal target Bruno Guimaraes has serious concerns about the long-term direction of Newcastle United, reports FootballTransfers.

Guimaraes has been heavily linked with a move to north London this summer with the Gunners looking to bring the Brazilian to the Emirates Stadium.

The Magpies are understandably desperate to retain the services of their captain having sold Anthony Gordon to Barcelona and cashed in on Sandro Tonali, the Italian set for a move to Tottenham.

And the Brazil international, who is with the Selecao for the 2026 World Cup, is worried about the club’s future following the sales of the star pair.

The former Lyon man has not asked for a move away from St. James’ Park, meaning he is expected to remain at the club beyond the summer.

Arsenal looking to add another central midfielder

However, should Guimaraes look to force a move away, then Newcastle may need to make another high-profile sale.

The news would appeal to Arsenal, who are looking to bring in another central midfielder during the off-season.

Arsenal are out to build upon their 2025/26 Premier League title success and capitalise upon managerial upheaval in England’s top tier.

Guimaraes isn’t the only central midfielder to have been linked with a move to the Emirates, with Bournemouth youngster Alex Scott also on the club’s radar.

The Cherries, though, insist the 22-year-old isn’t for sale, despite interest from Mikel Arteta’s men, while Premier League rivals Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are also monitoring the Bournemouth star.

Trossard set for summer exit

Central midfield isn’t the only position that Arsenal are looking to strengthen in the summer window.

The capital outfit are expected to push to land a new left winger with Belgian Leandro Trossard set to leave the club.

Reports on Saturday suggested that Besiktas had agreed a €20m deal to sign the 31-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
