Wolves host Stoke at Molineux in the Championship on Saturday lunchtime and will be aiming to extend their unbeaten start to the season.

The Old Gold, who have beaten Port Vale and Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup, needed a late penalty to draw with Blackburn in their league opener but followed that up with a 3-1 win at Preston on Saturday.

Stoke are third bottom in the Championship having lost at home to Swansea on the opening weekend before suffering a 3-1 defeat at Southampton on Saturday.

The Potters held Premier League Hull to a 1-1 draw in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday but ultimately lost on penalties.

Team news

Wolves duo Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Rafiki Said are sidelined while Kieran Trippier and Yerson Mosquera picked up injuries in the draw with Blackburn.

Defender Ladislav Krejci has not featured since the Carabao Cup win over Port Vale due to a leg issue.

Stoke midfielders Ethan Galbraith and Djibril Soumare played 45 minutes each in Tuesday's Carabao Cup clash with Hull as both players look to get up to speed after disrupted pre-seasons.

Ben Pearson suffered a knee issue but should be available, but Junior Tchamadeu, Lamine Cisse and Ato Ampah remain sidelined.

Prediction

Wolves are among the Championship favourites to earn promotion to the Premier League following last season’s relegation from the top flight.

The Old Gold will need to beat teams like Stoke at home to achieve that feat and will be determined to win after dropping points to Blackburn on the opening day of the campaign.

Stoke have lost both of their Championship matches this season, going down to Swansea and Southampton, and sit third bottom in the table.

Raul Jimenez, who represented Mexico at this summer’s World Cup, is back with Wolves after three seasons with Fulham.

The forward kept his cool to rescue a point against Blackburn from the penalty spot in stoppage time and will be looking to add to his tally against a Potters defence that has conceded five goals in two matches.

While Stoke are underdogs and expected to lose a third straight game on Saturday, Mark Robins’ men can at least find a consolation at Molineux.

The Potters have scored in their two defeats while Wolves have yet to keep a clean sheet in the Championship this season.
