Swansea moved to the top of the Championship with a 2-0 victory at home to Watford on Tuesday and they will be aiming to continue their strong start to the season when facing Welsh rivals Wrexham at the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday.

There was not much pre-season talk about Swansea featuring in the Championship promotion race, but opinions are starting to change after a string of superb performances from Vitor Matos’ side.

The Swans clinched well-deserved away victories at Stoke (2-1) and Derby (3-0) before registering a first home win of the campaign with a one-sided success over previously unbeaten Watford.

While Swansea have flown out of the blocks, Wrexham have taken a while to get going.

The Red Dragons picked up just two points from their opening three games before responding with a dominant 3-0 success at Millwall.

Prediction

Swansea seem to be growing in confidence and they can overcome another significant hurdle by defeating Wrexham in a highly charged encounter.

It has been an excellent week on and off the field for the Swans, who kept hold of in demand striker Zan Vipotnik as well as sealing their third league win of the campaign.

Vipotnik came on as a substitute against Watford but he may have to bide his time before getting back into the starting XI.

Adam Idah has been afforded opportunities to establish himself as the first choice centre-forward and did himself no harm at all by bagging a goal and an assist in the midweek victory.

Idah is playing with a lot of confidence and his power and pace could be key to unsettling Wrexham’s three-man defence.

Wrexham were barely tested during Wednesday’s 3-0 win at injury-ravaged Millwall, but they face a far tougher task against Swansea and may suffer their second league loss of the campaign.

Score Prediction: Swansea 2-1 Wrexham
