  • Stoke are second in the Championship but have lost two of their last three games

  • Norwich are unbeaten away from home with all seven points coming on the road

  • Recommended bet: Stoke to win and both teams to score

Stoke host Norwich in the Championship on Saturday in one of the most intriguing fixtures of the weekend.

The Potters came flying out the traps, winning their first three league fixtures and that fast start means Mark Robins’ men are second in the table despite losing two of their last three games.

The Canaries, meanwhile, have shown incredible form on the road, winning three of their four away games in league and cup while drawing the other, although travelling to Stoke is their toughest assignment yet.

Team news

Stoke will be able to call on Ben Pearson who has been fit to train despite being taken off at QPR last week with a leg problem.

Sam Gallagher has been stepping up his recovery and could be in line for a first appearance of the season while Steven Nzonzi is also working on a comeback but Saturday's game might come too soon.

Norwich will be without Papa Amadou Diallo for a few months after the winger injured his quad in last week’s home defeat by Wrexham.

Captain Kenny McLean could return after missing loss to the Red Dragons with a back injury.

The stats

Stoke are winless in their last nine league meetings with Norwich (drawing three and losing six) since a 1-0 away win in October 2018.

After losing six of their seven away league games against Stoke between 2005 and 2016 (winning once), Norwich are unbeaten in their last five visits.

No side has conceded fewer Championship goals this season than Stoke (4), with the Potters yet to concede more than once in any of their six games so far.

No player has scored more Championship goals this season than Norwich's Josh Sargent, with his five goals coming from just seven shots on target.

While Norwich have lost all four home games in all competitions this season, they are unbeaten on the road with three wins and one draw.

Prediction

Stoke will be determined to get back to winning ways after losing two in three but face a tough challenge in Norwich, who have been impressive away from home in the Championship, claiming two victories at Blackburn and Portsmouth while drawing at Coventry.

No team has conceded fewer goals than Mark Robins’ men this season but Norwich have netted in all but one game so far and boast the Championship’s top scorer in Josh Sargent, so expect both teams to hit the back of the net.

Robins’ side though should come out on top with home advantage on Saturday. The Canaries may be unbeaten on their travels but they were rather fortunate to escape with a 1-1 draw at Coventry, with the Sky Blues winning the shot count 28-4 while they boasted an xG of 3.68 to Norwich's 0.18.
