QPR welcome Bolton to Loftus Road on Saturday afternoon with both sides looking to make it two wins from two in the Championship.

The Hoops made an impressive start to the campaign with a 3-1 victory at Portsmouth, with Ilias Chair scoring twice and Koki Saito also finding the net.

Julien Stephan's side will now look to build on that result in their first home league game of the season.

Bolton also began life back in the Championship with a victory, beating Preston North End 2-1.

Steven Schumacher’s team arrive with plenty of confidence after securing promotion from League One, but this represents a significant step up in quality against a QPR side with considerably more experience at this level.

QPR finished 15th in the Championship last season but have made additions to their squad and are viewed by some as potential play-off outsiders. Their defensive record remains a concern, though, after conceding 73 goals last season, the most of any side that avoided relegation.

Team news

QPR are expected to make at least one change after Boy Kemper suffered an ankle injury on his first Championship start. Kealey Adamson could deputise, while recent signing Dennis Cirkin is also an option at left-back.

Glen Kamara made an appearance from the bench at Portsmouth but may have to wait for his first start following his summer move.

Tariq Lamptey, Justin Obikwu and Karamoko Dembele are set to miss out through injury.

Bolton could retain the XI that defeated Preston, despite Lewis Brunt, Samuel Iling-Junior and Ryan Hardie all pushing for their first starts.

Xavier Simons remains suspended, while Ruben Rodrigues continues to recover from a knee injury.

Prediction

QPR to win and both teams to score appeals, with the Hoops' home advantage giving them the edge while their defensive record makes a clean sheet difficult to trust.

QPR showed exactly what they can produce going forward in the opening 45 minutes at Portsmouth, racing into a 3-1 lead before half-time. Ilias Chair was particularly influential, scoring twice, while Koki Saito also got on the scoresheet.

Bolton should provide a tougher defensive test, having conceded only 52 goals across 46 League One matches last season. However, the Trotters also demonstrated their attacking threat against Preston, with Sam Dalby and Tom Gale both scoring inside the opening 25 minutes.

The visitors' promotion campaign was built on consistency and an ability to avoid defeat, with only nine losses in 46 matches. They also won on their Championship return, so there is little reason to expect them to simply sit back at Loftus Road.

The biggest concern for QPR is at the other end. They conceded 73 goals last season, meaning Bolton should have opportunities even if the hosts control much of the game.

The Hoops have the greater experience of Championship football and home advantage should ultimately prove decisive, but Bolton can contribute to what looks like a competitive encounter.

Score prediction: QPR 2-1 Bolton Wanderers
