Norwich welcome West Brom to Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon for the opening weekend of the 2026-27 Championship campaign, with both sides looking to build on impressive Carabao Cup victories.

The Canaries ended last season strongly under Philippe Clement, winning 13 of their final 21 league matches to climb from relegation trouble to ninth, finishing with 65 points.

They have carried that momentum into the new campaign by beating MK Dons 4-1 last weekend.

West Brom also began the season with four goals, cruising past Rotherham by the same scoreline.

Jimmy-Jay Morgan continued his impressive pre-season form with a brace, having already found the net five times before the competitive action began.

Both sides therefore arrive with confidence in attack, and the recent head-to-head record also points towards goals.

Norwich saw off West Brom 3-1 in the FA Cup last season and ran out 5-0 winners in the most recent league clash while the Baggies won 1-0 at Carrow Road last October.

Team news

Norwich are expected to retain much of the side that beat MK Dons, with Mohamed Toure likely to lead the attack after an outstanding individual performance in the Carabao Cup.

Toure scored inside the opening minute, supplied an assist and finished with five shots, including two on target. His direct running and willingness to shoot gives Norwich a constant threat up front.

West Brom will hope Morgan can carry his scoring form into the Championship. The 19-year-old scored twice against Rotherham and has emerged as one of the most exciting attacking players in James Morrison's squad.

The stats

Norwich won 13 of their final 21 Championship matches last season after Philippe Clement took charge, helping them finish ninth.

Norwich scored 63 goals last season, averaging almost 1.4 per game across the Championship campaign.

Mohamed Toure scored, assisted and registered five shots against MK Dons, including two on target, in Norwich's 4-1 Carabao Cup victory.

West Brom's Jimmy-Jay Morgan scored twice against Rotherham, taking his tally to seven goals across pre-season and the Carabao Cup.

Both teams have scored in four of Norwich's last five competitive matches, while West Brom have seen it land in five of their last eight.

Norwich have scored eight goals against West Brom in their two most recent meetings.

Prediction

Norwich are favourites for good reason and backing a home win and both teams to score looks a solid pick for this clash.

Clement's side finished last season much improved after a poor opening half of the campaign, and his side has already demonstrated their attacking threat this term, with Toure particularly impressive against MK Dons.

The Canaries also have a strong recent record against West Brom, including the emphatic 3-1 and 5-0 victories last season.

However, the Baggies have enough attacking quality to make this uncomfortable for the hosts.

Morgan's emergence gives them a genuine goal threat, while their own 4-1 cup victory suggests James Morrison's side are capable of causing problems in the final third.

With both teams scoring regularly and Norwich looking like they have more quality in attack than the Baggies, the Canaries can edge an entertaining contest at Carrow Road.
