  • Norwich have won seven of their last nine league matches

  • Sheffield United have lost four of their last eight away Championship contests

  • Recommended Bet: Norwich to win

Norwich will look to bounce back from their FA Cup disappointment when they host Sheffield United in the Championship on Wednesday.

The Canaries were beaten 3‑0 by Premier League Leeds in Sunday’s clash at Elland Road, but that result does little to overshadow their transformation in the league.

When Philippe Clement arrived in mid‑November, Norwich were in the relegation zone with just nine points from 15 matches, but the Norfolk outfit have collected 36 points from 20 games since, winning 11, and rising to the fringe of the play-off conversation.

A win over the Blades, who have made similar progress under Chris Wilder, would take them to within a point of the Sheffield club.

However, Saturday’s 1‑1 draw with West Brom, in which George Campbell scored at both ends, leaves the visitors eight points off sixth‑placed Wrexham with a game more played.

Team news

Norwich remain without a long list of injured players, including Harry Amass, Mirko Topic, Pelle Mattsson, Ante Crnac, Papa Diallo, Matej Jurasek, Oscar Schwartau, Jeffrey Schlupp, Mohamed Toure and Jovon Makama.

Anis Ben Slimane is pushing for a recall after producing five goals and five assists in his last 12 appearances.

As for Sheffield United, the visitors will have to do without key midfielder Gustavo Hamer, who is suspended after collecting his 10th yellow card of the campaign in stoppage-time last Saturday.

Kalvin Phillips is eligible again but remains a doubt, while Tom Davies, Sam McCallum and goalkeeper Michael Cooper are still sidelined.

Patrick Bamford should be fit to start despite going off at half‑time against West Brom, with Adam Davies continuing in goal.

The stats

Norwich are yet to draw a Championship game in 2026, having won eight and lost three of their league matches.

United head to Norfolk having gone unbeaten in their past three away games.

Norwich are winless in their past 10 league games against the Blades since a 1-0 win at Bramall Lane in September 2017.

The Blades have won their past two away league games without conceding. They last won three in a row to nil in October/November 2022.

Norwich's Slimane has been involved in six goals in nine Championship games in 2026 (5 goals, one assist).

Prediction

Norwich’s league form under Clement has been outstanding and despite Sunday’s FA Cup defeat, they look well‑placed to extend their winning run.

The Blades have improved significantly since November, but Saturday’s disappointing home draw with West Brom may have ended any realistic play-off ambitions.

With the Canaries strong at home, in rhythm and boasting multiple in‑form attacking threats, they are backed to edge a competitive encounter.
