  • Derby currently sit six points outside the play-off spots

  • Sheffield Wednesday have won a single Championship game this season

  • Recommended bet: Patrick Agyemang to score anytime

Derby will be looking to make it back-to-back Championship wins when they play host to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon.

The Rams defeated Blackburn 3-1 last time out, a result which leaves the east Midlands in eighth place, just six points off sixth position.

For the Owls, they are fighting for pride over the next few weeks. Relegation was officially confirmed following a 2-1 derby loss to rivals Sheffield United, but it had been on the cards for months.

Wednesday have lost their previous 13 matches across all competitions dating back to December 29.

Team news

Goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom remains absent for the Rams for this clash with rock-bottom Wednesday.

Elsewhere, Danny Batth, Max Johnston, Sondre Langas, Liam Thompson and Lars-Jorgen Salvesen will also be absent for County head coach John Eustace this weekend.

The Owls will be without the services of Max Lowe, Liam Cooper, Ernie Weaver, Di'Shon Bernard, George Brown and Murphy Cooper due to injures for the trip to Pride Park.

Jaden Heskey remains a doubt for the match, although Peirce Charles is eyeing a return for this game as he looks to make his first appearance since January 4.

The stats

Wednesday have enjoyed the better of the head-to-head between these two sides since the start of 2020, winning four of the eight match-ups.

Derby have only won two of these games, yet they did seal all three points against the Owls early this season, triumphing 3-0 at Hillsborough.

The home side have scored 52 league goals this season, although only seven sides have conceded fewer than their 46 goals.

Wednesday have both the worst attacking (21 goals) and defensive record (71 goals conceded) in the second tier this season and they have only scored three goals in all competitions since Boxing Day.

Patrick Agyemang is Derby's joint top scorer alongside Carlton Morris with 10 goals this term.

The American has notched four across his last nine games and scored twice against the Owls during that 3-0 victory earlier this season.

Prediction

While nothing is guaranteed in football, Derby will be fairly confidence of notching up another win this weekend as they chase down a play-off spot.

Wednesday have shown some signs of life recently, scoring against Southampton, Sheff Utd and Millwall in recent weeks.

Eustace will be counting on Agyemang to provide the cutting edge against a defence which has conceded over 70 times this season.

His two goals in the reverse fixture suggest he is the man for the job and backing him to score anytime is certainly a wise bet this weekend.
