  • Bristol City have failed to win any of their last three games

  • Swansea City sacked Alan Sheehan before the international break

  • Recommended bet: Both teams to score

Bristol City and Swansea City will have been delighted that the international break has given the opportunity to take stock and both will be hoping to emerge from their recent slumps when they meet in the Championship at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

The Robins reached the play-offs last season and started the campaign without a defeat in their first five games, but they have not captured the imagination since apart from a run for three successive victories at the end of last month.

Meanwhile, Swansea cross the Severn Bridge having gained just one win in their last seven matches, a run that cost manager Alan Sheehan his job and left them looking nervously over their shoulders at the bottom three.

Team news

Bristol City's injury list is easing with the news Jason Knight, Cameron Pring and Neto Borges are all returning to training, but there is still a backlog to clear.

Mark Sykes and Harry Cornick have been ruled out, Rob Atkinson has a hamstring problem and Max Bird, Joe Williams and Luke McNally are all unavailable for the Robins.

The Swans have no injury issues to report now striker Zak Vipotnick has recovered from a thigh problem, but they will head to Ashton Gate without defenders Ben Cabango and Josh Tyman, who have the weekend off after picking up their fifth bookings of the campaign.

Four of Bristol City's last six games have featured fewer than three goals and the Robins have kept two clean sheets in eight Championship home games this term.

Swansea have conceded in 11 of their last 12 games, while Bristol City have scored one goal in six of their last eight outings.

Prediction

Both Bristol City and Swansea will have spent the last two weeks desperate to get back into Championship action and the need to reignite their campaigns should ensure we are treated to an entertaining spectacle when they meet at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

Both teams have scored in each of Swansea's last five matches and they need to get their campaign going after a 4-1 home defeat to Ipswich cost head coach Sheehan his job.

Just one clean sheet in their last 12 outings suggests they are there to be got at, but the Robins have not been great at keeping their opponents out in home matches.

They have conceded in six of their eight Championship assignments on their own patch this term and the scope is there for the positive attitude of both teams to be rewarded with at least one goal.
