Championship newcomers Bolton and Lincoln meet at the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon after varying starts to life in the second tier.

The Trotters are unbeaten after overcoming Preston on the opening weekend of the campaign before earning a valuable point in a goalless draw at QPR.

Lincoln, playing at this level for the first time since 1961, took the lead against Middlesbrough in their first game but lost in injury time.

At Sincil Bank last Saturday, the Imps were two down against Portsmouth after only 16 minutes and went on to suffer a 3-1 defeat.

Team news

Bolton will be without Ruben Rodrigues as he is recovering from knee ligament damage, while Luca Stephenson is also unavailable after picking up a thigh issue in the win over Preston.

Defender Akin Famewo was taken off with a knock against QPR but should be fit to play.

Lincoln have been dealt a huge blow with captain Tendayi Darikwa ruled out for the season with an ACL injury he suffered in the first half against Portsmouth, and is now set for surgery.

Striker Rob Street scored in Tuesday's 4-1 Carabao Cup win at Blackpool and will be pushing for a start in the Championship, having made two substitute appearances.

Prediction

Bolton will go into Saturday’s match full of confidence after a strong start to life back in the Championship.

Steven Schumacher’s men kicked the season off with a win over Preston before holding QPR at Loftus Road.

Lincoln have had a tough introduction to the second tier, losing in injury-time having led Middlesbrough before conceding two quick goals in a home defeat by Portsmouth.

Based on recent results and the fact Bolton have home advantage, the Trotters should win and consign Lincoln to a third straight league defeat.

Bolton and Lincoln played out two 1-1 draws in League One last season and while Wanderers should edge this one, both teams are likely to find the net with the Imps scoring and conceding in their four games this campaign.

Sam Dalby scored 14 goals in 51 games for the Trotters last season and has already opened his account in the Championship, netting the opener in the win over Preston.

The former Wrexham and Dundee United forward looks good value to get on the scoresheet against a Lincoln side that has already conceded five goals in two games.

Score prediction: Bolton 2-1 Lincoln
