Blackburn Rovers host Sheffield United at Ewood Park as they look to get their Championship campaign back on track.

A 2-1 win over Middlesbrough on matchday two was an excellent result, yet Rovers have failed to win any of their three league games since.

Sheffield United, however, have lost just once all season heading into this clash and that came against Norwich over the weekend.

Team news

Tony Mowbray is without a host of players for this clash due to injury. Augustus Kargo, Harry Pickering, Lewis Miller, Mathias Jorgensen, Moussa, Baradji, Scott Wharton and Yuki Ohashi are all definite absentees.

Balazs Toth remains a doubt and he will be assessed before the match.

Chris Wilder also has several players out injured, but not to the extent of Blackburn’s injury crisis.

Femi Seriki, Harrison Burrows, Ryan One and Tahith Chong will all be missing for the visitors for Tuesday's game.

The stats

Across the previous 13 meetings since the start of the 2018/19 campaign, the Blades have won nine matches, with Blackburn claiming victory on just three occasions.

Wilder’s men won the previous meeting between these sides in the EFL Cup just a few weeks ago.

Both teams have scored in five of the last six fixtures between the clubs, dating back to March 2023.

Six of Blackburn’s seven matches in all competitions this term have featured both teams finding the back of the net.

For the Blades, their last four matches in the EFL Cup and Championship has seen both teams scoring, after their opening three games saw just three goals scored overall.

Patrick Bamford has scored three goals across six matches for United this season.

Prediction

It has been contrasting starts to the season for these two sides. Blackburn are without a league win since matchday two, while United are currently siting a point above their opponents, yet they have only lost one league game this term.

Wilder can take confidence from the fact his men defeated Blackburn 2-1 a few short weeks ago at Ewood Park in the EFL Cup and this will give his side plenty of encouragement.

Bamford will be looking to score in three successive Championship matches for the first time since joining the Blades and the former Leeds man could be Wilder’s biggest threat on Tuesday evening.
