Frank Lampard's Coventry continue to lead the way in the Championship
  • Coventry have won their last five fixtures

  • Sheffield Wednesday have lost their last 14 matches

  • Sheffield United have drawn just one of 18 Championship away games

Coventry are edging closer to their promotion dream and will be hoping to take another step forward when they take on out-of-form Preston in Wednesday’s clash at the CBS Arena.

Towards the other end of the table there is a key clash at the Kassam Stadium where second-bottom Oxford host fifth-bottom Blackburn.

Here are our score predictions for all 12 midweek games in the Championship.

Leicester vs Bristol City (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Leicester have picked up three wins and a loss under Gary Rowett but they can seal a vital victory over out-of-form Bristol City, who have suffered three defeats on the spin.

Score prediction: Leicester 2-1 Bristol City

Millwall vs Derby (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Millwall have moved into the top three and their physical, methodical style could give them the edge over play-off-chasing Derby, who have been beaten on each of their last two road trips.

Score prediction: Millwall 2-1 Derby

Portsmouth vs Swansea (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Fratton Park form is key to Portsmouth’s survival push, but the south coast side are winless in three and could be held by Swansea, who are making eye-catching progress under Vitor Matos.

Score prediction: Portsmouth 1-1 Swansea

Sheffield Wednesday vs Watford (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Watford were held to a 1-1 draw by Sheffield Wednesday back in December, but they can make amends by defeating the Owls in south Yorkshire.

Score prediction: Sheffield Wednesday 0-2 Watford

Wrexham vs Hull (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

There will be no more FA Cup involvement for Wrexham, but they gave a great account of themselves in the 4-2 extra-time loss to Chelsea and can respond in the right manner by defeating promotion-rivals Hull at the Racecourse Ground.

Score prediction: Wrexham 3-2 Hull

Stoke vs Ipswich (Tuesday, 8pm)

Ipswich were left frustrated by Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Leicester, but they won the previous three games and should be too strong for the mid-table Potters, who are missing suspended winger Sorba Thomas.

Score prediction: Stoke 0-2 Ipswich

Birmingham vs QPR (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Birmingham have suffered damaging back-to-back defeats, but they can stop the rot against QPR, who have lost their last three games without scoring.

Score prediction: Birmingham 2-1 QPR

Middlesbrough vs Charlton (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Middlesbrough had a superb Sunday, winning 4-0 at QPR, and they can follow up with a high-scoring success over Charlton, who often struggle on their Championship travels.

Score prediction: Middlesbrough 3-1 Charlton

Norwich vs Sheffield United (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Sheffield United are running out of time in the scramble for play-off places but they can pick up a victory over Norwich, who have been beaten 10 times at home in the Championship this season.

Score prediction: Norwich 1-2 Sheffield United

Oxford vs Blackburn (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Oxford have boosted their survival hopes with back-to-back wins, but they might have to accept a point against Blackburn, who have the best away record among the bottom seven.

Score prediction: Oxford 1-1 Blackburn

West Brom vs Southampton (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Southampton have been making progress towards the play-offs but they could be held by relegation-threatened West Brom, who showed a much better attitude during Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Sheffield United.

Score prediction: West Brom 1-1 Southampton

Coventry vs Preston (Wednesday, 8pm)

Coventry seem to have recovered from their mid-season wobble and they can brush aside mid-table Preston, who are on a five-game winless run.

Score prediction: Coventry 2-0 Preston.
