Millwall can go second with a win at relegated Leicester on Friday
Ipswich have a chance to respond when they visit West Brom on Saturday
Wrexham continue their play-off push when they visit champions Coventry on Sunday
Some of the Championship promotion and relegation issues have already been decided, but the penultimate round of fixtures promises to bring more twists and turns at both ends of the table.
This weekend's 11-match programme includes some key contests for both promotion and relegation and we have a score prediction for every game.
Leicester vs Millwall (Friday, 8pm)
A home draw with Hull was not enough to spare Leicester from relegation and the Foxes could struggle to lift the mood at the King Power Stadium when they host promotion-chasing Millwall.
The Lions have won six of their last eight away games and can claim another three crucial points to pile the pressure on Ipswich.
Score prediction: Leicester 1-2 Millwall
Charlton vs Hull (Saturday, 12.30pm)
Charlton still need one point to be safe from relegation, but they may be able to get it at home to Hull.
The Tigers have fallen out of the play-off places with a run of four draws and a defeat in their last five games and the hosts may be able to dig in for a draw.
Score prediction: Charlton 1-1 Hull
Middlesbrough vs Watford (Saturday, 12.30pm)
Middlesbrough's form has faltered in recent weeks, but they should be up to the task of staying in the automatic promotion hunt by beating out-of-sorts Watford.
The Hornets have taken only one point from their last five games and another away defeat looks likely.
Score prediction: Middlesbrough 2-0 Watford
West Brom vs Ipswich (Saturday, 12.30pm)
West Brom have secured their Championship status with an excellent nine-match unbeaten run but, with the pressure off, they could struggle to deny an Ipswich team who are in the thick of a battle for the second automatic promotion place.
The Tractor Boys have won three of their last four away games and can secure three valuable points at The Hawthorns.
Score prediction: West Brom 0-1 Ipswich
Birmingham vs Bristol City (Saturday, 3pm)
There is nothing major at stake for either of these teams, who are separated by just one point in the middle of the standings.
Birmingham have been strong at home in their first season back in the Championship, losing only three of their 22 home league games and they can make it three successive victories at St Andrew's.
Score prediction: Birmingham 2-1 Bristol City
Norwich vs Swansea (Saturday, 3pm)
Norwich look set to fall just short of the play-offs even if they win this contest, as they are six points short of sixth place with two matches left.
Both sides are ending the season in decent form and the Swans, who have won two consecutive away games, are capable of frustrating their hosts.
Score prediction: Norwich 2-2 Swansea
Oxford United vs Sheff Wed (Saturday, 3pm)
Oxford need to win both of their last two games to have any chance of staying in the Championship and they may be able to accomplish their first target by beating rock-bottom Sheffield Wednesday.
The Owls have drawn three of their last four games, but they have failed to score in three successive away games and one goal may be enough for the home team.
Score prediction: Oxford 1-0 Sheff Wed
QPR vs Derby (Saturday, 3pm)
Derby are still in the hunt for a play-off place, but they have lost three in a row on the road and could struggle to get the three points they need at Loftus Road.
QPR have lost only one of their last four home games and may be capable of claiming a point at home.
Score prediction: QPR 1-1 Derby
Sheff Utd vs Preston (Saturday, 3pm)
Both of these two teams have 57 points from 44 games, but Sheffield United are hard to fancy after their disappointing 3-1 home defeat by Blackburn on Wednesday.
Preston put in a better effort despite losing 2-1 at Birmingham in their midweek game and the visitors could snatch the points.
Score prediction: Sheff Utd 0-2 Preston
Stoke vs Portsmouth (Saturday, 3pm)
Both of these clubs will be hoping to do better in the Championship next season, but they are both safe this time around and they could take a point each in the Potteries.
Pompey were beaten 5-1 by champions Coventry in midweek, but the hosts have lost their last two games by two goal margins and a dour draw is likely.
Score prediction: Stoke 1-1 Portsmouth
Coventry vs Wrexham (Sunday, 12pm)
There will be a party atmosphere at Coventry as the hosts celebrate their title triumph, but Wrexham will be fully focused on trying to remain in the final play-off place.
That could prove tricky and a carefree Sky Blues team can come out on top in an entertaining Sunday encounter.
Score prediction: Coventry 3-2 Wrexham
