Micky van de Ven expects to leave relegation-threatened Tottenham this summer regardless of the outcome of their bid to beat the drop, according to FourFourTwo.
Spurs sit 18th in England’s top tier and are winless in 15 following their 2-2 draw with Brighton on Saturday.
The north London side were minutes away from a first win this calendar year in their survival quest only to concede a late Georgino Rutter equaliser.
Spurs face five cup finals
Next up for Spurs is a trip to relegated Wolves before games against Aston Villa, Leeds, Chelsea and Everton to see out the campaign as they strive to consolidate their Premier League spot.
Even if they do manage to retain their top-flight status, however, Van de Ven is still expecting to depart Roberto De Zerbi’s side at the end of the season.
The Netherlands international has been courted by a number of elite European sides, with La Liga giants Barcelona and defending Premier League champions Liverpool previously credited with an interest in the former Wolfsburg man.
Van de Ven loan exit possible
The 25-year-old has reportedly been tying up his off-field affairs ahead of an impending exit.
Van de Van, though, is contracted to the 2025 Europa League winners until 2029, with Spurs potentially sanctioning a loan departure rather than a high-profile sale.
'It's just made up'
The Dutch defender was recently forced to address rumours that the players ‘don’t care’ about the club’s efforts to avoid dropping out of the Premier League.
“The other day when we read that one guy told the rest of the team that he doesn't care because he's leaving anyway - it’s just made up. And the fans will believe it. It’s just frustrating for us guys,” Van de Ven said recently.
Van de Ven isn’t the only centre-back tipped with a summer exit with teammate and club captain Cristian Romero also expected to push for a move.
The Argentina international, who penned a new deal last year to end speculation linking him with a move to Atletico Madrid, has likely played his final game for the club having suffered a knee injury in the 1-0 defeat to Sunderland earlier this month.
