Marcus Rashford has agreed a three-year deal with Barcelona as the La Liga giants prepare to make the striker’s loan move permanent, according to Spanish publication Sport.

Rashford completed a loan switch to the Spanish champions last summer with the option to make the transfer permanent having fallen out of favour under former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim.

The England international enjoyed a brief impressive spell with Aston Villa in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign, and that prompted Barcelona to make their move for Rashford.

Carrick considered possible Rashford recall

And despite rumours that new United boss Michael Carrick would consider bringing the 28-year-old back to Old Trafford, Rashford’s expected to put pen to paper on a contract at Spotify Camp Nou, which will see the player take a significant pay cut.

Barcelona paid United an additional £5m last summer in order to include a £26m option to buy the forward at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Rashford has impressed the Barcelona hierarchy this term having scored four goals and laid on an additional six assists as the Blaugrana look to successfully defend their La Liga crown.

Barcelona lead La Liga

Barcelona opened up a four-point lead at the top of the table on Saturday as a Lamine Yamal hat-trick and a late Robert Lewandowski strike saw Hansi Flick’s side cruise to a 4-1 win over Villarreal.

Real Madrid have the chance to respond and move to within one point of their rivals when they host fellow Madrid side Getafe on Monday night.

Los Blancos need to bounce back from last week’s 2-1 defeat to Osasuna, a result that ended an eight-game winning run and saw them sacrifice top spot.
