Man Utd Transfer News: Bruno Fernandes Drops Huge Future Hint as Contract Talks Loom

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has provided a strong indication that his future may lie at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese playmaker is enjoying a fine campaign for the Manchester giants as he closes in on the Premier League assist record.
While he couldn’t add to his 19-assist haul in United’s 3-2 win over Liverpool on Sunday, Fernandes is expected to match, or better, the return of Thierry Henry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne to claim the record for himself.
Fernandes was linked with United exit last year
However, there remain question marks over Fernandes’ Old Trafford future as the midfielder approaches the final year of his contract.
Fernandes, who joined United from Sporting CP in 2020, was heavily linked with a high-profile switch to the Saudi Pro League last season.
Despite a lucrative offer from the Middle East, Fernandes opted to remain in England and has played a starring role as United secured their Champions League return on Sunday afternoon.
Rumours continue to circulate surrounding his future, but Fernandes has suggested that he’s willing to remain at United following their upturn in form on the back of Michael Carrick’s appointment in January.
United skipper drops hint he'll stay at Old Trafford
“It's not a question of loyalty. I could have gone two years ago, I could have gone three years ago, I could have gone last season, but I really like to be here,” Fernandes told Gary Neville on Sky Sports.
“I think that being successful at this club is something that I can never get at another club. The joy and everything I get, the day I get what I want from this club, I don't think I will get that from any other club in the world.
“I know how much the fans want this, I know how passionate they are. I know how much they are waiting for the club to come back again. I'm on the same ship as them. I want this ship; instead of being steady, I want it to go forward and to navigate as much as we can.
“Yeah, I won the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup [but] what this club wants, what these fans want and what I want, myself and the team, we haven't got that yet. Until my contract expires, I'm going to try.”
Fernandes a contender for Player of the Year gong
Fernandes is one of the frontrunners for the PFA Player of the Year award following his fine campaign for Carrick’s side.
The Portugal international’s main competition for the accolade is Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice, who has been a driving force in the Gunners’ title push.
