Sandro Tonali will command a price far north of what Newcastle paid for him in the summer transfer window, reports Football Insider.
Tonali has been one of the shining lights in an underwhelming season for the Magpies. While various members of the squad have impressed, such as the midfielder, the side as a whole are way off the pace - 11th in the Premier League with one game to go.
The meagre returns have led to reports that a number of Newcastle's top players could depart this summer, and Tonali could be one of the first out the door, with top three sides Arsenal and Manchester United both hunting him down.
According to Football Insider, Arsenal in particular are continuing to monitor the Italian and know what his price is likely to be.
Insider Pete O'Rourke said: “[Newcastle will] be looking for £80million for Sandro Tonali, maybe even more, looking at some of the other midfielders that have moved in the Premier League in recent seasons.
“They might have to sell a couple of their big stars just to help allow Eddie Howe to spend in the summer window, and Tonali, no doubt, will be a player of huge interest to a number of clubs.
“There’s been talk of interest from Arsenal, and we all know that there is going to be interest from clubs in his native Italy as well, but they will struggle to afford to sign him right now.”
Tonali's price has soared
Tonali was signed for £55million from AC Milan in 2023, and is having his most productive season with the Magpies, with three goals and seven assists to his name in all competitions.
The soaring of his price to £80million or more makes sense, then, and reports elsewhere have suggested it could be even higher.
Some have stated he'll cost £100million, though Italian outlet Corriere della Sera states it'll be £87million - more in line with the Football Insider report.
In any case, most reports are on the same page in terms of Tonali's availability, with the Italian story stating he'll be 'up for sale' in a 'sacrifice' from Newcastle so that they can remain in line with financial regulations.
That's the same reason that a host of Magpies stars could leave. There's a suggestion that Anthony Gordon already has one foot out the door, with Bayern Munich waiting to receive him, while Bruno Guimaraes, Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall are among those on the radars of other big clubs.
