Liam Delap will swap Chelsea for former club Ipswich if they return to the Premier League

Liam Delap is set to return to former club Ipswich from Chelsea if the Tractor Boys return to the Premier League for next season, reports SportsBoom.
Delap joined the Blues from Ipswich during the summer in a £30million transfer. He was also linked with the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle when Chelsea snapped him up, alongside fellow striker Joao Pedro.
The Brazilian has made the best of his time at Stamford Bridge, and has rightly been named the starter far more often than Delap, leading to speculation that the Englishman will depart after just one season.
If former side Ipswich are promoted to the Premier League, that's apparently exactly what will happen.
SportsBoom reports Delap will leave Chelsea to return to the Tractor Boys if they return to the top flight after being relegated out of it last season.
The Blues will reportedly look for a similar amount to the £30million they paid for Delap if they are to sell him back to Ipswich.
The Championship club are determined to improve their fortunes in the top flight if they return and therefore want their former talisman back.
If they fail in bringing Delap home, though, it's reported the 23-year-old has other options. Indeed, Premier League sides Leeds and Everton are both said to be keen on him, as are newly-promoted Coventry, who 'could fancy a punt' on the striker.
Delap's varying fortunes in the Premier League
Delap's full debut Premier League season saw him net 12 goals as well as providing two assists as Ipswich were unfortunately relegated.
While he was rewarded for his top performances with a move to Chelsea, he's done little to prove he was deserving of that, netting just twice in all competitions, along with four assists.
He has started just 11 times for Chelsea in the Premier League this season and it's becoming evident that he's not going to cut it for the Blues.
It feels that a move away from Stamford Bridge would be best for Delap, and returning to Ipswich, where he clearly had success last season, could be the thing to get him back on track.
The Tractor Boys are in the automatic promotion places in the Championship at the moment, and a victory against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday would confirm their return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
But should they lose or draw, either of Millwall or Middlesbrough could beat them to automatic promotion.
Ipswich would then drop into the playoffs, though, giving them another crack at promotion.
