Chelsea have "total control" over the potential signing of Argentina midfielder Valentin Barco, reports transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.

The futures of some Blues midfielders might be somewhat uncertain currently. Enzo Fernandez was suspended after seeming to suggest he wanted to move to Real Madrid, while Moises Caicedo revealed he doesn't know what the future holds for him.

That said, Chelsea reportedly still want to give Fernandez a new contract, while Caicedo has previously revealed a desire to become a legend at Stamford Bridge.

Either way, Liam Rosenior's side are plotting a new midfield addition, as their interest in Strasbourg's Barco seems to have ramped up of late.

Barco signed for the French side, who have the same ownership as Chelsea, after a spell at Brighton in which he scarcely played.

A move to the Blues looks to be progressing well, with the club believed to be dominating the pursuit of a player it should not be very hard to sign whatsoever.

Insider Gaston Edul recently reported Barco's move to Chelsea was done, and fellow insider Romano suggests they're indeed in the box seat.

Chelsea in control for Barco

He said on YouTube: “Chelsea have total control on the Barco situation.

“Same ownership as Chelsea, but Valentin Barco is a player that Chelsea already have in their list for season 26-27.

“So for this summer, what I can tell you is that Valentin Barco together with his agents already gave his green light on leaving eventually Strasburg in the summer transfer window and joining Chelsea.

“Barco is okay with that. Barco is ready to make his move to Chelsea. Now obviously club to club is the same ownership, so it’s not going to be any issue.

“It’s still not done, sealed, but Chelsea intention is to control the Barco situation and to consider Valentin Barco as one of the first signings for a season 26-27.”

An Argentina international, Barco would surely gel well with Enzo Fernandez, with whom he's shared the midfield on the international stage.

The former Boca Juniors man is one of the most impressive midfielders in France at the moment, with two goals and nine assists in all competitions, so Chelsea's desire to bring him to England is no surprise.
