Everton are eyeing a move for Tottenham midfielder Conor Gallagher just months after he moved to the north London club, reports Football Insider.

Gallagher was wanted by Aston Villa and Spurs in the January window, and it's fair to say the move he made was the wrong one. Tottenham essentially won the battle for the midfielder's services as they were willing to buy from Atletico Madrid right away, with the Villans preferring a loan initially.

The England international has not lived up to expectation, not helped by the fact most of the Tottenham squad are underperforming, leading to them now being situated in the Premier League relegation places.

Gallagher could be safe from relegation, though, as Football Insider reports Everton are keeping close tabs on him ahead of the summer window.

The report states they are interested in pursuing a loan deal for the Tottenham man, likely with an obligation to buy him in 2027.

The suggestion is that Gallagher could well leave Spurs just months after joining, and Everton are positioning themselves as one of the most likely destinations for him.

The Toffees are said to be prioritising the capture of a proven central midfielder, and manager David Moyes is a "big admirer" of Gallagher, despite his current struggles with Tottenham.

The Englishman has had success at Crystal Palace and Chelsea, and given the struggles most of the Spurs squad are having at the moment, it's probably fair to suggest this is just a blip and he'd hit form again were he to move elsewhere.

Everton have more targets

Everton will reportedly have a limited budget in the summer and therefore are said to be most likely to prioritise loan-to-buy deals rather than big-money moves.

With that said, they have been linked with striker Ivan Toney, whose current contract in Saudi Arabia is enormous, while they remain interested in bringing Jack Grealish back to the club after his loan from Manchester City was curtailed due to injury.

A figure of £20million has been floated for Grealish, while it's also been reported that a second loan could be possible.

Whether the Toffees will be able to land all of the aforementioned targets remains to be seen.
