Curtis Jones to Inter Milan? Antonio Cassano Backs Liverpool Star as Summer Target

Antonio Cassano has backed Inter Milan to sign Curtis Jones this summer and believes the England international is “better than McTominay” with speculation over the Liverpool midfielder’s future rife.
Jones was linked with a January switch to the Nerazzurri as the Italian champions pushed to bring the 25-year-old to Milan as they considered selling Davide Frattessi to Nottingham Forest.
However, Inter’s push to sign Jones was rebuffed and Frattessi remained at the San Siro, though Cristian Chivu’s side continues to be linked with a move for the Reds man.
Jones 'better than McTominay' insists Cassano
And Cassano believes that Jones, who played the full 90 minutes of Liverpool’s 3-2 loss at Manchester United on Sunday at right-back, would be an “excellent” signing for Inter as they look to build on their 2025-26 Scudetto success.
“Curtis Jones for Inter? He would be an excellent signing, he’s a pacy midfielder, he’s a Champions League-oriented player,” the former forward told Italian outlet Calciomercato.
“He’d be better than McTominay, he has great quality,” Cassano continued, the Scot having shone for Napoli since joining from Manchester United.
Jones has a little over a year left to run on his current deal at Anfield and is being linked with a summer exit.
Premier League rivals Tottenham were also tentatively linked with a move for Jones at the turn of the year but instead turned their attention to Atletico Madrid’s Conor Gallagher.
Spurs backed to sign Robertson
One Liverpool player who will be leaving at the end of the season, and potentially to Spurs, is left-back Andy Robertson.
Robertson’s Liverpool deal expires next month and it’s already been confirmed that he’ll bring his nine-year spell on Merseyside to an end.
A deal to take Robertson to Spurs is already believed to be in the pipeline, though it is dependent on the north London side retaining their Premier League status.
Spurs moved out of the relegation zone at the weekend as they capitalised on West Ham’s 3-0 loss at Brentford to beat Aston Villa 2-1 on Sunday to go one point clear of the 18th-placed Hammers.
