Mikel Arteta 'personally appreciates' Como star Jacobo Ramon, who is seen at Arsenal as a 'priority in the defensive structure' reports SportsBoom.
The Gunners are on the verge of Premier League triumph for the first time since 2003-04. Five points will definitely be enough in the last two games, but Manchester City not winning their next game would make the equation easier.
Arteta's decisions since being in charge at the Emirates will be vindicated should they win the title this season and he'll look to recruit further beyond that.
SportsBoom reports the Spaniard 'personally appreciates' Como defender Ramon, who hails from the same country as the Arsenal boss, and was a big part of the side who secured European football for the first time in the Italian club's history.
The report suggests that scouts from Arsenal and Chelsea were in the building the game prior to that achievement, when Como held Napoli to a 0-0 draw - in which Ramon played the full 90 minutes.
The scouts were said to be 'tracking the every move' of the 21-year-old defender, who left Real Madrid for Italy less than a year ago.
While Arsenal see Ramon as a priority, despite having a host of defensive talents already at their disposal, and Chelsea were very interested to see his display against Napoli, there are said to be several La Liga and Serie A powerhouses quietly tracking his development.
Real Madrid present problem
There is a problem in the form of Real Madrid for any club interested in Ramon, though. Indeed, the defender's former club have a buyback clause which would see them scoop him back up for a very low fee.
The buyback is set at just €8million (£6.9m). That's a very small fee and clearly much less than Ramon is worth already, so if Los Blancos deem him good enough to return, they can make that move very easily.
They also have the rights to 50 per cent of Ramon's next transfer elsewhere, so should Real decide against signing him, they're still in a very good position.
It also means that if Real don't want to buy Ramon back, Como will ask for a large fee, knowing that whatever they make from the sale is going to be halved by the Spanish club.
The report states that they are looking for €45-50million (£39-43.4m) for the defender's services.
It is not clear whether Arsenal, Chelsea or any other interested club will pay that at this point, or if Real are keen on taking the Spaniard back to the Bernabeu.
