Arsenal target Elliot Anderson as Martin Zubimendi may pursue shock Spain return

Elliot Anderson is in the sights of Arsenal as Martin Zubimendi plans to review his position with his family and could return to Spain, according to insider account Indy Kaila.
Zubimendi has proven one of the best signings of the summer in the Premier League. The Spanish midfielder has started all but one game in the Premier League this season, playing the full 90 minutes on 22 occasions, as he's racked up five goals and one assist.
He and Declan Rice have been a superb partnership and are one of the key components to the ultra-competitive nature of the Arsenal side, who are currently seven points clear at the top of the Premier League.
But it's reported though Zubimendi looks on course to scoop major silverware in his first season in north London - with the club still competing in three other competitions, too - that he could return to Spain after just a year.
It's said Zubimendi and his family will review their position in the summer, and a return to Spain is not out of the question.
The former Real Sociedad midfielder, 27, had only played in his home country before this season, and rejected approaches from both Liverpool and Arsenal themselves before he finally accepted an offer to join the Gunners in the summer.
It is not a surprise that he's still strongly connected with Spain, but one would imagine the hugely competitive Arsenal side he's in would prompt him to stay and battle for titles as they are doing so well this season.
Elliot Anderson in sight for Arsenal
Should they lose Zubimendi, Arsenal will be losing one of their most important assets, and replacing him will be key to potential success in the coming seasons.
It is reported that the Gunners are now making moves for Elliot Anderson, feeling the Nottingham Forest midfielder, along with Rice, can dominate English football for years to come.
Anderson is currently firmly in the sights of both Manchester United and Manchester City, with both hoping to strengthen their own midfields in the summer.
City are believed to be the main club driving themselves towards the Englsh international, with some outlets even suggesting his move to the Etihad is a sure thing.
But outside of the transfer window, nothing is yet confirmed, and if Arsenal's interest in the midfielder becomes concrete, and they do scoop one or more trophies this season, Anderson's view could switch to them.
Wherever he ends up, the 23-year-old will almost certainly be making a move from the bottom end of the Premier League to the upper echelons soon, it is just not yet clear for which club he'll represent when that happens.
His future is one of the most interesting in the Premier League at the moment, as he's bossing games against far better sides than the one he's playing in, and it would be a seamless transition to a bigger club.
