MK Dons can clinch the League Two title with a win on the final day of the season at Fleetwood Town.
Crawley and Salford need points for different reasons ahead of their tussle at the Broadfield Stadium on Saturday.
The outcome of Harrogate’s encounter with Barnet could have major implications for the survival battle and the race for playoff positions.
Saturday, 2nd May, marks the final day of the 2025/26 League Two season and with so much still to play for, the campaign in England’s fourth tier is set for a frenetic final flourish.
The destination of the League Two title, identity of the playoff qualifiers, as well as the final shake-up in the relegation battle are yet to be decided, so buckle up for plenty of last-day drama.
Ahead of the excitement, we’ve assembled previews and score predictions for all 12 League Two fixtures on Saturday.
Barrow vs Newport County (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Bottom-club Barrow need to win and hope Crawley are beaten well enough to spark a six-goal swing to avoid being relegated on Saturday. Newport, who scored an 108th-minute winner to beat Oldham (3-2) last time out, still sit just one point above the relegation zone and need final-day points of their own to avoid the drop, so expect the tension to be palpable at Holker Street. The teams drew 2-2 in December’s reverse fixtures and Saturday’s crucial rematch could be just as dramatic.
Score prediction: Barrow 2-2 Newport County
Bromley vs Walsall (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Bromley are already up, though they need to better MK Dons’ result against Fleetwood to pip their rivals to the title on Saturday. Visiting Walsall, who have lost three of their last four assignments, have little to play for, and might offer little resistance. This will be Bromley captain Byron Webster’s last game for the club and with the defensive stalwart leading the charge, a home win is fancied at the Copperjax Community Stadium.
Score prediction: Bromley 2-0 Walsall
Cheltenham vs Colchester (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Midtable Cheltenham were picked off by a clinical Bristol Rovers in a heavy defeat (0-4) last weekend. Town boss Gary Coterill will demand better when Cheltenham sign off in front of their own fans on Saturday. Their opponents, Colchester, have lost four of their last six away games in League Two, failing to score on each occasion, so Cheltenham should be able to finish on a high here.
Score prediction: Cheltenham 1-0 Colchester
Crawley vs Salford (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Crawley came from behind three times to earn an important point in their League Two relegation battle at Accrington last time out, though the Red Devils are clear of the drop zone by goal difference only and they enter the season’s final day in peril. Salford meanwhile, can still snatch an automatic promotion spot. They’ve won eight of their last 11 games in the league, taking some big scalps along the way and they might have too much quality for their hosts in this one.
Score prediction: Crawley 1-2 Salford
Crewe vs Cambridge United (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Cambridge enjoyed a dominant 3-0 win over Barrow when last seen and they can still finish as high as second spot when the campaign wraps up on Saturday. To achieve that, United will need to beat Crewe and hope that Bromley slip up against Walsall, though dropped points at Alexandra could also see Cambridge leapfrogged by Salford. Crewe have nothing to play for, though they have won six of their last nine league games and could have a big say in the automatic promotion race on Saturday.
Score prediction: Crewe 2-2 Cambridge United
Fleetwood vs MK Dons (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
MK Dons secured promotion with a fine 3-0 win over Tranmere last week, though that victory also catapulted them into top spot and pushed them right to the brink of title celebrations. Fleetwood, who have failed to win nine of their last 11 league matches, stand in the Dons’ way, though the Fishermen might have one eye on their summer holidays, and their more motivated visitors could take control.
Score prediction: Fleetwood 0-2 MK Dons
Gillingham vs Shrewsbury (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Gillingham conceded ten goals in a brace of heavy losses against Grimsby (1-4) and Barnet (2-6), while four of their last five runouts at the Priestfield Stadium have also ended in defeat. The Gills have even scrapped their end-of-season awards ceremony following that rotten run, so they can’t be backed with any confidence to win on Saturday. Shrewsbury meanwhile, have lost only one of their last five games, and they can leave Gillingham with at least a point.
Score prediction: Gillingham 1-1 Shrewsbury
Harrogate vs Barnet (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
A double from Shawn McCoulsky fired Harrogate to a 2-0 win at Walsall last weekend and moved them off the foot of the table, though the Sulphurites still need results to go their way to avoid being relegated on Saturday. Barnet meanwhile, need a win of their own to stand a chance at stealing a playoff spot on the final day. The Bees have been in sensational form of late, winning four games in a row and stinging their opponents with 16 goals. Barnet’s extra goal-scoring power could be the difference here.
Score prediction: Harrogate 2-3 Barnet
Notts County vs Bristol Rovers (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Notts County’s 1-0 win at Colchester last weekend, courtesy of Nick Tsaroulla’s strike, guaranteed the Magpies a playoff place, though an automatic promotion spot could still be on offer if results fall their way. Beating Bristol Rovers could prove tricky, however. The Pirates have been relentless over the last two months, winning ten of their last 11 games in League Two and their 4-0 triumph over Cheltenham last time showcased their swelling confidence. Rovers could disappoint their hosts in this one.
Score prediction: Notts County 1-2 Bristol Rovers
Oldham vs Accrington Stanley (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Ten-man Oldham lost 3-2 at Newport last weekend after they conceded in the 18th minute of added time and Athletic have now lost four league fixtures on the spin. Oldham’s players will want to end the campaign on a more positive note on Saturday at Boundary Park, where they are fancied to beat Accrington Stanley. The Accies have lost three of their last four games on the road and the poor travellers have failed to win seven of their last eight away assignments overall.
Score prediction: Oldham 2-1 Accrington Stanley
Swindon vs Chesterfield (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Swindon (8th) and Chesterfield (7th) both stand on the cusp of playoff success, though the outcome of their final-day clash at the County Ground will be decisive. Chesterfield, who have won five and drawn two of their last seven matches, are in better form than their hosts (one win in six), while Swindon’s confidence would have taken a further battering in last week’s 4-0 loss at Grimsby. The momentum seems to be with Chesterfield here.
Score prediction: Swindon 1-2 Chesterfield
Tranmere vs Grimsby (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
With Swindon facing Chesterfield, Grimsby are assured of a place in the playoffs, taking the pressure completely off their trip to face a Tranmere side battling for their lives. Rovers are just a point clear of the relegation zone and could even stay up if they lose, as long as their rivals also suffer defeat. Still, Pete Wild’s charges won’t want to leave anything up to chance. They won their reverse fixture with Grimsby 2-1 and with desperation providing impetus, they could push for a similar result in Saturday’s rematch.
Score prediction: Tranmere 2-1 Grimsby
