We’ve listed free predictions for every single League Two fixture on Saturday below, complete with score predictions for each contest.
Barrow vs Walsall (Saturday, 12:30 pm)
Barrow are still in the relegation zone, however, their dramatic injury-time win over Oldham (3-2) in midweek gave their survival hopes a significant boost. Buoyed by their late triumph, Sam Foley’s side can take aim at Walsall. The visiting Saddlers were blitzed by Cheltenham (0-4) last time out and sitting in midtable, they might lack motivation. Barrow could secure another vital victory here.
Score prediction: Barrow 2-1 Walsall
Swindon vs Accrington Stanley (Saturday, 12:30 pm)
An early red card for James Ball put Swindon on the road to ruin at Colchester (0-3) last Friday, though the Robins could reset their playoff flight path at Accrington Stanley’s expense. The Accies are caught in mid-table limbo and are playing like it. They’ve lost six of their last seven assignments in the division and they are unlikely to reverse their slide at the County Ground on Saturday. Side with Swindon in this one.
Score prediction: Swindon 2-0 Accrington Stanley
Cheltenham vs Newport County (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Cheltenham made it two wins in two games on Tuesday evening when they eventually saw off Gillingham, though they needed a 94th-minute goal from Mo Faal to triumph after a less-than-convincing showing. Newport are still scrapping for their lives, though their 2-1 win over bottom-club Harrogate last weekend was huge. Building on that result, the Exiles could set up to frustrate their hosts on Saturday.
Score prediction: Cheltenham 1-1 Newport County
Crawley vs Shrewsbury (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Relegation candidates Crawley put in an admirable shift in their 3-1 loss at Bristol Rovers last weekend and outperformed their hosts for shots by quite a distance (23-10). A similarly creative showing at home to Shrewsbury could yield a more positive outcome. The visitors have notched one or fewer goals in 100% of their last seven fixtures, so a Crawley side in greater need of points could have the edge.
Score prediction: Crawley 1-0 Shrewsbury
Crewe vs MK Dons (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Crewe’s playoff hopes are dangling by a thread following last weekend’s 3-2 loss at Grimsby, and Alexandra could lose even more ground when they host highflying MK Dons. The visitors blew the title race wide open a week ago when they held on with ten men to beat leaders Bromley 2-1. The Dons still have a four-point deficit to eat into, but they can close the gap with a victory at Crewe.
Score prediction: Crewe 1-2 MK Dons
Fleetwood vs Chesterfield (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Chesterfield kept their playoff surge on track against near rivals Grimsby (2-1) on Tuesday, but only just after keeper Ryan Boot’s dramatic late penalty save. The Spireites have now claimed 13 of the last 15 points on offer to them in League Two, and with momentum building, they can avoid defeat on Saturday. Fleetwood have lost only once in six outings on home soil however, so a draw might be seen as a good result by the visitors.
Score prediction: Fleetwood 1-1 Chesterfield
Gillingham vs Grimsby (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Reece Staunton missed a crucial late spot kick in Grimsby’s loss to fellow playoff contenders Chesterfield on Tuesday. The Mariners cannot afford any more slip ups, though a date with Gillingham could give them an immediate chance to rebound. The listless hosts have failed to win 90% of their last ten games, losing six times along the way, and it makes sense to oppose them again there against a motivated Grimsby.
Score prediction: Gillingham 1-2 Grimsby
Harrogate vs Colchester (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Bottom-club Harrogate lost their tense relegation six-pointer against chief survival rivals Newport last weekend, and the pressure is on them to muster an instant response against Colchester. The visitors have been keen players in the relegation battle in terms of results. They have already won at Newport (2-1) and Tranmere (1-0) since the beginning of March, and they could produce something similar here.
Score prediction: Harrogate 0-1 Colchester
Notts County vs Barnet (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Notts County were three down inside 33 minutes in their tussle with promotion rivals Cambridge last weekend, and even though their hosts lost a player to a red card before half time, the Magpies couldn’t rouse themselves to mount any sort of fight back. That was County’s third loss in five games, and a Barnet side in better fettle could inflict more damage. The Bees have won four of their last five fixtures, beating highfliers MK Dons (2-1) and Cambridge (1-0) along the way, so don’t be surprised if they cause another upset in this one.
Score prediction: Notts County 1-2 Barnet
Oldham vs Salford City (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Oldham’s late-season playoff dash has ground to a halt following successive defeats on the road at Shrewsbury (0-1) and Barrow (3-2), though they could fare better when hosting local rivals Salford on Saturday. Micky Mellon’s Athletic have won five and drawn two of their last seven matches at Boundary Park, while visiting City have lost three of their last four on their travels. Oldham can earn the bragging rights here.
Score prediction: Oldham 2-1 Salford City
Tranmere Rovers vs Bristol Rovers (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Tranmere’s wait for a first win since February 14th continues, though Rovers came close to ending that run last weekend when they missed a penalty a 1-1 draw at Chesterfield. Bristol Rovers meanwhile, are the division’s form outfit and their clinical 3-1 triumph over Crawley last time out was their sixth in a row and eighth in their last nine games overall. The Pirates are playing with a swagger and they can extend their streak at Tranmere’s expense.
Score prediction: Tranmere Rovers 1-2 Bristol Rovers
