In one of the most highly anticipated Monday Night Football games of the season, the Philadelphia Eagles are heading to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers in a matchup that will go a long way in shaping the 2026 NFL Playoffs. The 6-2 Eagles are hoping to win their third consecutive game as they look to stay atop the NFC, while the 5-2-1 Packers are trying to bounce back from a disappointing home loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur knows that his team came up short against the Panthers, whom they were favored to beat by 10+ points. The Packers shot themselves in the foot numerous times with seven penalties and just one touchdown on five red zone trips.

"We deservingly got our ass beat," LaFleur said after Green Bay's 16-13 loss to Carolina. “We thrive on some explosive plays, and when you're not getting them, you’ve got to just move the ball down the field consistently. We've had penalties. We obviously had a fumble on the first drive. We had three possessions in the first half: a nine-play drive, a nine-play drive, and a ten-play drive, and we had six points. It's going to be tough if we can't figure [it] out and score in the red area. It's just going to be tough to win football games like that.”

After being left with a feeling of disappointment last Sunday, LaFleur said that tonight presents a chance for the Packers to wash the bitter taste out of their mouths and get back into the win column.

“What a great opportunity,” LaFleur told reporters on Saturday. ”Obviously, Monday Night Football [against the] defending world champions [at] Lambeau Field. I don't think it gets much better than that. This is a really good football team, obviously, and they have shown that consistency for a number of years now. They’ve got star power on every level and in every phase. I think Nick (Sirianni’s) done a hell of a job there. So in that regard, it is a great test for us.”

This will be Green Bay's third time going up against Philly since the start of last season. For some people on the Packers' roster, like safety Xavier McKinney, they have a lot of familiarity with this opponent as a former member of the NFC East. Unfortunately, that familiarity can only take you so far, he explained.

“I mean, it helps you, but it only helps you so much. You've still got to go out there and play. But it does help you in a sense,” McKinney said. “Obviously, I've seen the things that they do offensively for some years now. They don't really change too much stuff up. So I am very familiar with what they do scheme-wise and the type of players that they have. Obviously, I’ve played with a lot of those guys over there. So, I understand how they play as well, and they know how I play. So, it's kind of like even a little bit. We [will] just go out there and compete and have fun with it.”

The Eagles have had ample time to prepare for this matchup. The last time Philly played, they crushed the New York Giants on October 26th, 38-20. Though Philadelphia is coming off the bye week, head coach Nick Sirianni did not see that as a time for his team to rest and relax.

“I think it’s so important that we are completely locked in and focused on finding ways to get better,” Sirianni said ahead of Philly’s Week Nine bye. “This is a really important week. We’ve benefitted from this week in the past, whether that be going into playoffs or whether it’s in the regular season. It’s that same motivation and same hunger to do everything that we can do to help improve the football team.”

This will be the Eagles' first time going against defensive end Micah Parsons since he was traded to the Packers on August 28th. Philadelphia's All-Pro offensive tackle, Jordan Mailata, knows that the o-line will need to focus on stopping him if they want to get things going in the passing game.

“He’s just one of those guys that you have to gameplan for because, we say, he’s a game-wrecker,” Mailata said of Parsons during a November 6th interview. “For us, it’s all about executing our plan up front in the run game and in the passing game because the pass game is where he’s done a lot of damage and where he can be a big threat. For us, it’s just about executing up front - especially in that pass protection game - and try to make sure he doesn’t disrupt it.”

Arguably, one of the most interesting stories about this game is that the Packers proposed a rule in the off-season that would've seen the NFL ban the Eagles' famous tush push play. While the vote to ban the play failed, the tush push has stirred up a lot of controversy this season.

“I love everything that goes into making it successful and making it work, just like any play you go through,” Nick Sirianni told reporters over the weekend. “It starts in the classroom, and then to walkthrough, and then to practice. There’s so much that goes into each and every play.”

Micah Parsons has been a vocal critic of the tush push, even going as far as to say that it's "not safe football." Regardless of his feelings, the Packers are probably going to have to defend against that play at least once tonight.

“[It’s about] just not getting down to 3rd and 1 or 3rd and 2, where they can go back-to-back. We’ve got to get to 3rd and 3 and beyond [a] majority of the game,” Parsons said. “No one has the answer yet. You know what I mean? It's just playstyle. You just got to out-push ‘em.”

Prediction for Philadelphia Eagles @ Green Bay Packers (-1)

This is one of the toughest games of the season to predict, and sportsbooks agree since the spread has fallen from 2.5 points to one point over the last few days. The Packers had an incredibly difficult time defending the run over the last two weeks, giving up 128 rushing yards per game during that stretch. That doesn't bode well when going against an Eagles squad that gashed the New York Giants for 278 yards on the ground just two weeks ago. At the same time, Philly's pass catchers will probably be able to pick up big chunks of yards against a weaker Green Bay secondary that only ranks 15th in opponents' passer rating allowed this season (91.2). Philly wins this game outright.

Prediction: Eagles 25 - 24 Packers
