NHL

Montreal Canadiens @ Buffalo Sabres Game Two at 7:00 p.m. EDT on TNT and HBO Max.

The Sabres had a dominant performance in Game One, beating the Canadiens 4-2 on Wednesday to take a 1-0 series lead. Buffalo forwards Josh Doan and Ryan McLeod each scored a goal and tallied an assist, combining for four points on the evening. Meanwhile, goalie Alex Lyon did his job, blocking 26 of Montreal's 28 shot attempts for a .929 save percentage. With that loss, the Canadiens fell to 4-4 in the playoffs as they continue to alternate between wins and losses. If history is any indication of how things might play out, then Montreal should bounce back with a victory tonight.

One question that will be answered: Now that he has scored goals in back-to-back games, can the Canadiens' Nick Suzuki find the back of the net once again?

Vegas Golden Knights @ Anaheim Ducks Game Three at 9:30 p.m. EDT on TNT, truTV, and HBO Max.

The Ducks tied things up in the Western Conference Semifinals with a 3-1 victory two nights ago. Anaheim's defense was lights out, allowing just one goal that came on a power play opportunity with six seconds remaining in the contest. Ducks goalie Lukas Dostal had his best single-game performance of the postseason, denying 21 of the Golden Knights' 22 shots for a .955 save percentage. Meanwhile, Anaheim forward Leo Carlsson found the back of the net for his fourth goal of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Tonight, the series moves to California, where the Ducks haven't lost a home game since April 12th.

One question that will be answered: Will the final score of this evening's contest be 3-1, since that was the result in the previous two games this series?

NBA

New York Knicks @ Philadelphia 76ers Game Three at 7:00 p.m. EDT on Amazon Prime Video.

The 76ers are currently staring down the barrel at a 2-0 series deficit. The Knicks managed to outlast the Sixers on Wednesday, 108-102, thanks in part to a 26-point, six-assist outing by guard Jalen Brunson. Tonight's matchup poses injury concerns for both sides. Philadelphia superstar center Joel Embiid is a game-time decision after missing the last matchup with an ankle injury. Simultaneously, New York could be without forward OG Anunoby as he battles a hamstring issue. On top of that, Knicks guard Josh Hart and center Mitchell Robinson are also considered game-time decisions. Facing the prospect of going down 3-0 in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, the 76ers need to put their best foot forward at home tonight, where they're only 1-2 in the 2026 NBA Playoffs.

One question that will be answered: Did Joel Embiid just need a game off, or is his ankle injury a sign of a more serious issue?

San Antonio Spurs @ Minnesota Timberwolves Game Three at 9:30 p.m. EDT on Amazon Prime Video.

San Antonio bounced back in a big way with a massive 133-95 victory over Minnesota in Game Two. Six members of the Spurs roster finished the night with double-digit scoring outputs, while superstar center Victor Wembanyama recorded a 19-point, 15-rebound double-double that also included two blocks. T-Wolves Guard Anthony Edwards struggled in that one, with just 12 points and four turnovers in 24 minutes of action. Minnesota also had a poor showing down low after they were outscored 58-36 in the paint. The series picks back up tonight in Minneapolis, where the Timberwolves are undefeated this postseason.

One question that will be answered: Will Anthony Edwards play at least 30 minutes for the first time this series?

WNBA

The start of the 2026 WNBA season at 7:30 p.m. EDT on ION Television.

The 2026 WNBA regular season kicks off with a three-game slate that will see the Connecticut Sun take on the New York Liberty, the Washington Mystics play the Toronto Tempo, and the Golden State Valkyries face the Seattle Storm. With the creation of the Portland Fire and the Toronto Tempo, the league now boasts 15 teams. 14 of them will be trying to dethrone the reigning champion Las Vegas Aces, who have won the WNBA Championship in three of the last four seasons behind the stellar performance of four-time MVP A'ja Wilson. It all leads up to the WNBA Finals, which begin on Friday, October 16th, 2026. We'll see if anybody has what it takes to stop the Aces from going back-to-back for the second time in five years.

One question that will be answered: How will the New York Liberty's new big four of Sabrina Ionescu, Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones, and Satou Sabally perform?

MLB

New York Yankees @ Milwaukee Brewers at 7:40 p.m. EDT on MLB.TV.

An exciting interleague battle between the 26-12, AL-leading Yanks and the 19-16 Brewers begins tonight in Milwaukee. New York only has a half-game advantage over the Tampa Bay Rays for first place in the AL East, so they'll need a win tonight to maintain divisional control. Meanwhile, the desperate Brewers have to secure a victory if they want any shot of catching up with the NL Central-leading Chicago Cubs. The pitching battle should be fantastic as the Brewers will be sending out Jacob Misiorowski, while the Yankees give ace pitcher Max Fried the nod.

One question that will be answered: How many strikeouts will Misiorowski and Fried combine for?

St. Louis Cardinals @ San Diego Padres at 9:45 p.m. EDT on Apple TV.

St. Louis and San Diego will meet for the second time in as many days, roughly 24-hours after the Cardinals defeated the Padres on the road. With yesterday’s game tied 1-1 in the top of the seventh inning, shortstop Masyn Winn hit a triple that drove in outfielder Jordan Walker, to put St. Louis ahead by a run. That would end up being the difference in the game as the Cards would hold on for the 2-1 win. Griffin Canning will be making his second start of the campaign for the Padres, and Michael McGreevy will be on the mound for St. Louis.

One question that will be answered: Considering both starting pitchers have an ERA below 2.55, will they allow two or fewer combined earned runs tonight?

Atlanta Braves @ Los Angeles Dodgers at 10:10 p.m. EDT on ESPN Unlimited and MLB.TV.

We could be getting a preview of the 2026 NLCS when the 26-12 Braves hit the road to open a three-game series against the 23-14 Dodgers in Los Angeles. Atlanta leads the MLB in road wins this season with 14, while LA is 12-6 at home. The Braves will be hoping that ace Chris Sale can give them a good performance since he has the eighth-best ERA in the majors (2.14) as well as the most wins amongst starting pitchers (six). On the other side, the defending champs will be looking to righty Emmett Sheehan to give them a few quality innings after he gave up two homers and four earned runs the last time he took the mound a week ago. If the Braves win this one and the Cubs lose to the Texas Rangers, then Atlanta will overtake Chicago for the best record in the National League. Fans from across the MLB will be tuning into this one!

One question that will be answered: Can Chris Sale limit the Dodgers' impressive lineup to two earned runs or less?
