MLB

Chicago Cubs @ Pittsburgh Pirates at 6:40 p.m. EDT on MLB.TV.

The 29-25 Cubs cannot seem to break the schneid. Yesterday, their losing streak reached nine consecutive games following a loss to the 28-26 Pirates. Pittsburgh's Henry Davis hit the game-winning home run in the bottom of the seventh inning for the eventual 2-1 victory. It'll be a bullpen game for Chicago with reliever Jordan Wicks getting the start for the Cubs. He'll be facing the Pirates' Braxton Ashcroft, who has led Pittsburgh to wins in three of his last four games.

One question that will be answered: Can Chicago score at least three runs or more today?

Minnesota Twins @ Chicago White Sox at 7:40 p.m. EDT on MLB.TV.

Believe it or not, the 26-28 Twins and the 27-26 White Sox find themselves in the middle of the AL playoff race. If the season ended today, Chicago would actually be the second Wild Card in the American League! Thankfully for Minnesota, the season is far from over, and the Twins are only 1.5 games back from the White Sox for that last Wild Card spot. This game will be huge for both teams and their postseason hopes. 2025 All-Star Joe Ryan gets the nod for the Twins. He'll be facing off with Sean Burke, who has not won a game since May 2nd.

One question that will be answered: Considering Minnesota's Byron Buxton and Chicago's Munetaka Murakami have combined for 34 home runs this season, will either of them go yard today?

St. Louis Cardinals @ Milwaukee Brewers at 7:40 p.m. EDT on MLB.TV.

The 31-20 Brewers extended their lead in the NL Central to 2.5 games with a 5-1 win yesterday over the 29-23 Cardinals. Milwaukee ace Jacob Misiorowski was once again fantastic, striking out 12 batters to bring his total to an MLB-leading 100 on the season. Brew Crew designated hitter Christian Yelich was also great with two hits, a home run, and two RBIs. Michael McGreevy and his 2.40 ERA (11th in the MLB) will be on the bump for St. Louis, while Kyle Harrison makes the start for the Brewers as he looks for his fourth straight win.

One question that will be answered: Since he's tied for fourth in the league in RBIs (42), how many will the Cardinals' Jordan Walker have today?

Seattle Mariners @ Athletics at 9:40 p.m. EDT on ESPN Unlimited and MLB.TV.

The 26-29 Mariners crushed the Athletics yesterday, 9-2, as the A's fell to 27-27 on the campaign. Seattle's lineup hit four homers while its two pitchers recorded ten strikeouts in the victory. Now, the Mariners are only 1.5 games back from the Athletics for first place in the AL West. The A's will be turning to Luis Severino to help them get back on track, while Seattle will look to Emerson Hancock to help it win its second straight game. If the Mariners win this one, then they can leapfrog the Athletics for first place in their division on Wednesday. But that will be all for naught if they don't take care of business tonight.

One question that will be answered: Will Seattle's Randy Arozarena (tied for eighth in RBIs over the last 15 days) record at least one RBI in his third consecutive game?

Philadelphia Phillies @ San Diego Padres at 9:40 p.m. EDT on MLB.TV.

Just when it looked like all hope was lost for Philadelphia, the Phillies won 18 of their last 26 games to get to 27-27 on the season. Meanwhile, the 31-22 Padres have control of the number-one Wild Card spot in the NL, but they're still trying to chase down the Los Angeles Dodgers for first place in their division. Aaron Nola will be on the mound for the Phillies, and Randy Vasquez will be San Diego's starter. Considering only 4.5 games separate these two in the NL Wild Card race, another win could do wonders for Philadelphia.

One question that will be answered: As the league leader in home runs (21), will Kyle Schwarber hit a homer tonight?

NBA

San Antonio Spurs @ Oklahoma City Thunder Game Five at 8:30 p.m. EDT on NBC and Peacock.

The series is tied 2-2 after a dominant win by the Spurs in Game Four. San Antonio superstar center Victor Wembanyama continued to light the world on fire with a game-high 33 points to go with eight rebounds, five assists, three blocks, and two steals. On the other side, OKC couldn't buy a bucket from beyond the arc after going six for 33 on three-pointers the last time out. The Spurs also kept Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in check, holding him to 19 points. When series are tied 2-2, the team that wins Game Five has gone on to win the series 81.8% of the time in the NBA Playoffs, so this will undoubtedly be the most important matchup of the season for both teams.

One question that will be answered: Will Shai Gilgeous-Alexander score at least 25 points tonight?

NHL

Colorado Avalanche @ Vegas Golden Knights Game Four at 9:00 p.m. EDT on ESPN.

The 2025-26 season could come to an end tonight for the Presidents' Trophy-winning Colorado Avalanche as they try to avoid being swept in Las Vegas, Nevada. It looked like the Avs were going to comfortably beat the Golden Knights in Game Three after going up 3-0 in the first period. However, Vegas battled back and scored five unanswered goals for the 5-3 victory to go up 3-0 in the Western Conference Finals. What's even more concerning is that Colorado's Nathan MacKinnon is questionable to play in tonight's game after going down with an injury on Sunday. With a loss, the Avalanche will become the fourth Presidents' Trophy-winning team in Stanley Cup history to be swept in the playoffs. If they want to avoid being on the wrong side of history, they'll need to give it everything they've got.

One question that will be answered: Will Nathan MacKinnon play tonight, and if he does, how much ice time will he log?
