MLB
Cleveland Guardians @ Philadelphia Phillies at 6:40 p.m. EDT on MLB.TV.
Two teams with playoff aspirations kick off a three-game set as the 30-22 Guardians hit the road for an interleague matchup with the 25-25 Phillies. Ever since Philadelphia fired former manager Rob Thomson on April 28th, the Phillies have gone 16-6. Meanwhile, Cleveland is 9-1 in its last ten outings and has the longest active winning streak in the league at six games. Christopher Sanchez, who has the fourth-best ERA in the majors (1.82), will be on the mound for Philly, as Gavin Williams starts for the Guardians.
One question that will be answered: With 30 strikeouts this month, can Sanchez take down at least nine batters?
St. Louis Cardinals @ Cincinnati Reds at 6:40 p.m. EDT on MLB.TV.
In a tight battle between NL Central rivals, the 28-21 Cardinals will travel to Cincinnati for a three-game series with the 26-24 Reds, their first of the 2026 campaign. Both teams are trying to keep pace with the Chicago Cubs, who currently control the second wild card spot in the National League. Either Cincy will extend its win streak to three games, or St. Louis will end its two-game slide. Kyle Leahy gets the nod for the Cardinals, while Chris Paddack will be on the bump for the Reds.
One question that will be answered: Considering they're tied for the fourth-most runs in baseball over the last 15 days (65), will Cincinnati drive in at least five runners tonight?
Tampa Bay Rays @ New York Yankees at 7:05 p.m. EDT on MLB.TV.
The 33-15 Rays hope to maintain their lead over the 30-21 Yankees for first place in the AL East as New York and Tampa start their second three-game set of the season. The Yanks are just 4-6 in their last ten contests and are 4.5 games back from the Rays for first place in the division. On the other side, Tampa Bay is tied with the Milwaukee Brewers for the second-best record in the MLB in its last ten games (8-2). This will be the 2026 debut for Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole, while Nick Martinez and his second-ranked ERA (1.51) get the nod for Tampa Bay.
One question that will be answered: How many runs will Gerrit Cole allow in his first start of the 2026 campaign?
Los Angeles Dodgers @ Milwaukee Brewers at 7:40 p.m. EDT on MLB.TV.
The 31-19 Dodgers will be in Wisconsin to take on the 29-18 Brewers, who recently took control of the NL Central thanks in part to a five-game skid by the Chicago Cubs. The Brew Crew is 8-2 in their last ten games and is riding a three-game win streak. However, LA is 7-3 in its last ten and needs this one to maintain control of first place in the NL West. It'll be Justin Wrobleski and his fantastic 6-1 record on the mound for the Dodgers, while Logan Henderson will be the Brewers' starter.
One question that will be answered: Can Shohei Ohtani keep the momentum going and hit his second home run in as many games?
Athletics @ San Diego Padres at 9:40 p.m. EDT on MLB.TV.
Our final baseball game of the day pits the 26-24, AL West-leading Athletics against the 29-20 San Diego Padres. The A's only have a 1.5-game lead over the Texas Rangers for first place in their division, so they’ll need a strong showing tonight. However, the Padres are 1.5 games behind the Dodgers for first place in the NL West, so they have all the motivation needed to try and put their best foot forward. It'll be the Athletics' Jeffrey Springs facing off against San Diego's Walker Buehler in the pitching battle.
One question that will be answered: Since they have a .333 OBP over the last 15 days (fifth in the MLB), how many times will the A's get on base tonight?
WNBA
Dallas Wings @ Atlanta Dream at 7:30 p.m. EDT on ION.
Two of the best teams in the WNBA through the first few weeks of the season will go head-to-head when the 2-1 Dream play host to the 3-2 Wings. Atlanta guard Allisha Gray has been sensational early on, with a league-leading 25 points per game. But we also have to give credit to Dallas' Paige Bueckers, who is eighth in the WNBA in scoring with 20.8 points per game. This matchup also features Dream superstar Angel Reese, who is second in the league in rebounds per game (12.8). In what could end up being a potential playoff preview, both teams need a win to stay above .500.
One question that will be answered: How many points will Bueckers and Gray combine for?
Golden State Valkyries @ Indiana Fever 7:30 p.m. EDT on ION.
The 3-1 valkyries will be on the road to take on Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever as both squads look to improve their positioning for a potential playoff run. With a win, Golden State will move into a tie for the number-one seed in the league with the Las Vegas Aces. But Indiana needs a victory to hold onto the eighth seed in the WNBA standings. With the Fever and their league-leading offense (94.4) going against the best defensive team in the WNBA, the Valkyries (74.5 points per game allowed), you can imagine that this matchup will be intense.
One question that will be answered: How will Caitlin Clark look as she continues to battle a back injury?
NHL
Vegas Golden Knights @ Colorado Avalanche Game Two at 8:00 p.m. EDT on ESPN.
The 2026 Stanley Cup Western Conference Finals continue in Denver after the Golden Knights fended off an Avalanche comeback to take Game One of the series. Once Vegas went up 3-0 early in the third period, the Avs recorded a pair of goals to bring the score to 3-2 with 2:21 left in the game. Unfortunately for the Colorado faithful, Vegas center Nic Dowd notched an empty-net goal with 45 ticks left on the clock to put the game out of reach,4-2. Now, the President's Trophy-winning Avalanche are facing their first series deficit of the postseason. They'll need to bounce back if they want to even this thing up before the series shifts to Las Vegas. Though that will be tough, considering Colorado's Cale Makar, the best defenseman in the NHL, was ruled out for a second straight game due to injury.
One question that will be answered: Will the Golden Knights' Mitch Marner extend his points streak to three games?
NBA
Oklahoma City Thunder @ San Antonio Spurs Game Three at 8:30 p.m. EDT on NBC and Peacock.
This bout between the NBA's heavyweights moves to San Antonio after the Thunder evened things up in Game Two. Following that historic performance by the Spurs' Victor Wembanyama in Game One, league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander showed why he is the league’s most valuable player with 30 points and nine assists as the Thunder won 122-113. After San Antonio forward Harrison Barnes cut OKC's lead to two points early in the fourth quarter, the Thunder finished the game on a 23-16 run while holding Wemby to just two points in the final nine minutes. With the series tied at one game apiece, the Spurs are hoping that their home crowd can give them the boost needed to take a 2-1 lead.
One question that will be answered: Who will have more points tonight: Victor Wembanyama or Shai Gilgeous-Alexander?
