Dalton Varsho's walk-off grand slam lifts Blue Jays over Rays
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho realized a childhood dream when he hit a walk-off grand slam to lift his team over the Tampa Bay Rays, 5-3, in extra innings. Facing a 2-2 count and a 3-1 deficit in the bottom of the tenth inning, Varsho hit a 375-foot home run with the bases loaded to win the game.
“It can loosen up the clubhouse a little bit,” Varsho said after the win. “Knowing that we needed to have something to happen like that to take a deep breath and relax, it’s a big win.”
“That’s big, man. It’s a big win,” manager John Schneider told reporters. “It was a tough series, and it’s easy to think things weren't going our way when they were playing well and pitching well. We just needed a big hit, and we got it.”

"Just a little uncomfortable, tight, especially in between innings," Fried said. "It's hard for me to kind of warm up, loosen up. The first hitter of the inning would be like 88, 90, 91 [mph]. And by the end -- fourth, fifth hitter, 20 pitches in -- I'm able to kind of get things loosened up."

And I think as a front office staff, our job is to continue to put on a great show and put a great product on the floor, but also make sure that we’re inviting people into this arena for the last time, and they’re going to create some experiences that will last forever.”
