Following our guide to the tallest players this season, the NBA has a new tallest player.
Jamarion Sharp has signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, with the 7ft 5in center now standing above every other player currently on an NBA roster.
Sharp edges past San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama, who is listed at 7ft 4in, to claim the title. His height is certainly the headline, but the Clippers are taking a chance on a player who has also built an impressive reputation as a rim protector.
The 24-year-old spent the 2025-26 season with the Texas Legends and was named NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year. Sharp averaged 7.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and a league-leading 3.8 blocks across 25 regular-season appearances, while shooting 73.5% from the field.
He then joined the Toronto Raptors for NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, averaging 7.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.8 blocks across five appearances while shooting 71.4% from the floor. That run helped earn him another opportunity at NBA level, this time with the Clippers.
Sharp went undrafted in 2024 after finishing his college career at Ole Miss. He has previously spent time around the Dallas Mavericks, including preseason appearances, but is still waiting to make his NBA regular-season debut.
His route into the league has therefore been considerably less straightforward than Wembanyama's, but there is little mystery surrounding the skill that could eventually earn him minutes.
At 7ft 5in with elite shot-blocking numbers, Sharp gives the Clippers a genuine defensive presence around the basket and an intriguing developmental option heading into the new season.
What Is an NBA Two-Way Contract?
A two-way contract allows a player to move between an NBA franchise and its NBA G League affiliate during the season.
NBA teams can carry up to three two-way players in addition to their standard 15-man roster. Those players can be active for a maximum of 50 regular-season games with their NBA team, while spending much of the season developing in the G League.
For Sharp, that means the Clippers can give him regular playing time in the G League while also bringing him into the NBA squad when required.
It does not guarantee that the league's tallest player will immediately become part of the Clippers' regular rotation.
It does, however, put the 7ft 5in center one significant step closer to making his NBA debut.
