While off-field issues have given new Portugal manager Jorge Jesus plenty to think about, the performances on the pitch have helped to calm any murmurings of discontent as he seeks to extend his perfect record when Norway visit the Estadio do Dragao on Sunday.

Jesus started his tenure with a 1-0 win over Wales in Nations League Group A4 before edging past Norway 2-1 in Oslo, but it was the latter match where the controversy started.

Reportedly unhappy at being an unused substitute against Norway, Cristiano Ronaldo revealed ahead of the clash against Denmark that he had left the camp and that the truth would be revealed at a later time.

Portugal did not let this incident distract them as they defeated the Danes 4-2 to make it three wins in a row to sit six points clear in their group.

Norway slipped to third after losing 2-1 in Wales, meaning those two nations and Denmark are all sitting on three points after three matches.

Team news

Ronaldo's self-imposed exile from the Portugal camp continues, with the reason for decision to leave the squad prior to the win over Denmark yet to be disclosed.

Francisco Conceicao missed the victory over the Danes due to injury and he is expected to miss out once again.

Norway will be forced into at least one change from the defeat to Wales, after Torbjorn Heggem was sent off.

Antonio Nusa and Jorgen Strand Larsen are both pushing for starts in attack.

The stats

Jorge Jesus has won all three matches since taking charge of Portugal.

Portugal sit top of Nations League Group A4 on nine points, scoring seven goals and conceding three.

Joao Felix has scored in all three group matches for Portugal.

Portugal's Goncalo Ramos has two goals and one assist in his last two games.

Norway have scored at least once in 11 consecutive matches.

Erling Haaland has had nine shots on target across the first three group games for Norway, scoring three times.

Prediction

The best way to quieten down the noise when it comes to Ronaldo is to keep picking up results and that is exactly what Portugal did on Thursday with a 4-2 win over Denmark.

Jesus's side have already accounted for Norway in Oslo, winning 2-1 on matchday two, and another three points looks likely for the 2016 European champions.

Norway gave up a 1-0 lead in Cardiff to lose 2-1 against Wales and the defensive frailties, which have seen the Norwegians fail to keep a clean sheet in 11 matches, look set to be exposed again.

The visitors should at least get on the scoresheet, something they have achieved in 11 games in a row, but a third defeat of the group is anticipated.

Goncalo Ramos has been in fine form for Portugal, scoring twice and assisting once in his last two outings, and he looks capable of adding to either of those tallies.

Round off this Bet Builder by backing Norway defender Kristoffer Ajer to be booked, just like he was when these two met in Oslo.

Score prediction: Portugal 3-1 Norway
