Bournemouth vs Everton (Premier League) – 3:00 pm

Everton have looked sharp in the campaign’s early exchanges and they followed up their excellent 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on the opening weekend of the Premier League with a confidence-building 4-0 victory at Preston in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.

Thierno Barry scored against Palace and notched a superb hattrick against North End in midweek, and with the improving French striker starting to put it all together, the Toffees look overpriced for their trip to the south coast.

David Moyes’s side dug out a 1-0 win when they last visited the Vitality Stadium and they could force a similar result here.

Recommended bet: Everton Double Chance

Bristol City vs Portsmouth (Championship) – 3:00 pm

Bristol City finally blew off the summer cobwebs and attacked with some much-needed conviction last weekend when they drew 2-2 at Birmingham, and the Robins might feel they should have won having mustered 15 attempts to their hosts’ eight.

Energised by that showing, Michael Skubala’s side can take aim against a Portsmouth outfit that conceded three goals to West Ham in the cup (3-1) and QPR (3-1) in the Championship earlier this month.

However, Pompey looked better themselves in last weekend’s 3-1 triumph at Lincoln and they look ready to trade blows with City at Ashton Gate.

Recommended bet: Both Teams to Score

Elversberg vs Bayer Leverkusen (Bundesliga) – 2:30 pm

Newly-promoted Elversberg are preparing for their first-ever Bundesliga campaign and there should be a carnival atmosphere at the Ursapharm-Arena should for the visit of Bayer Leverkusen.

Harnessing that energy, Elversberg will be determined to make a positive introduction to the division. 103 goals were scored across their 34 matches in the German second tier last term, so they should be an entertaining addition.

Leverkusen meanwhile, finished in a disappointing 6th spot last season, however, they were the Bundesliga’s fourth-highest scorers (68 goals) and they can contribute to a high-scoring contest on Saturday.

Recommended bet: Over 2.5 Goals

Strasbourg vs Lens (Ligue 1) – 4:15 pm

Strasbourg lost Samir El Mourabet to a second-half red card and eventually lost 4-0 to Marseille in a disastrous Ligue 1 opener last week, though we expect Le Racing to put up a better fight when they host Lens.

Strasbourg rarely fail to score at the Stade de la Meinau. They failed to register in only three of their 17 home assignments in Ligue 1 last season, while BTTS has also landed in three of their last four meetings with Lens at that venue.

Lens demolished Auxerre in their Ligue 1 curtain-raiser last weekend, though they did concede twice in their 5-2 rout, which suggests Strasbourg can find joy in the final third this weekend. We advise looking to the BTTS markets for dividends here.

Recommended bet: Both Teams to Score

Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle (Premier League) – 5:30 pm

Tottenham’s new-look defence was torn to shreds by Brentford’s pace and power last weekend, with Spurs conceding a mammoth 26 shots and 3.88 in expected goals against in their 3-0 defeat to the rampant Bees.

Newcastle meanwhile, picked up a point following a ding-dong battle with Liverpool on Sunday (2-2), though they did concede 27 shots in that draw, which was the most conceded by any side across the opening weekend.

Both backlines look suspect, so don’t be surprised if chances flow freely at both ends in North London. Six and five goals were also scored in Tottenham and Newcastle’s respective Carabao Cup games in midweek, so it makes sense to stick with over 2.5 goals for this one.

Recommended bet: Over 2.5 Goals
