Sparta Rotterdam vs Feyenoord (Netherlands Eredivisie) - 11:15

A fresh Eredivisie campaign in the Netherlands begins this weekend and the fixture computer has thrown up an early doozy on Sunday, pitting rivals and neighbours Sparta and Feyenoord against each other in the Rotterdam Derby.

Unsurprisingly, sparks flew in both encounters between these antagonists last term, with Feyenoord winning last season’s corresponding fixture 4-0 and Sparta gaining revenge at De Kuip in January with a shock 4-3 triumph over their hosts.

More excitement is anticipated when the teams clash in Sunday’s campaign opener. New Head Coach Rogier Meijer takes charge of Sparta in a competitive fixture for the first time since his appointment, which only adds further spice to the occasion, so expect plenty of cut, thrust and goalmouth action at The Castle.

Recommended bet: Over 2.5 Goals – 1/2

St. Pauli vs Greuther Furth (Germany 2. Bundesliga) - 12:30

Recently relegated from the top tier, St. Pauli open their account in the 2. Bundesliga with a home game against Greuther Furth on Sunday, though the visitors are unlikely to give their hosts an easy ride at the Millerntor-Stadion.

Greuther Furth were full of goals in pre-season and scored three times in each of their final four friendly matches, which included some tough tests against Freiburg (3-0) and Zurich (3-2).

St. Pauli meanwhile, conceded at least once in each of their six pre-season outings, in fact, BTTS bettors would have been rewarded in each of those six games, and the same market has plenty of potential ahead of what should be a competitive tussle on Sunday.

Recommended bet: Both Teams to Score – 13/25

Shelbourne vs St. Patrick's Athletic (Irish Premier Division) - 17:00

It’s derby day in Dublin on Sunday when Shelbourne host their capital city rivals St. Patrick’s Athletic at Tolka Park. Shels won the last meeting with their neighbours in May (1-0), though our free football betting tips are backing Pats to gain a measure of revenge here.

Shelbourne have had little time to recover between games this week, having been involved in a taxing Conference League qualifier in Amsterdam against Ajax on Thursday evening.

John Russell’s side were beaten 3-1 in the Netherlands, where they saw just 29% of the ball and conceded a whopping 32 shots. That was Shelbourne’s fourth loss in five games since Russell’s appointment in July and they look vulnerable again here.

With fatigue and poor form major factors, bettors are advised to oppose Shels here, with St. Patrick’s Athletic offering plenty of value in the draw no bet stakes at 1.60.

Recommended bet: St. Patrick’s Athletic Draw no Bet – 3/5

Anderlecht vs RAAL La Louviere (Belgium Jupiler Pro) - 17:30

Anderlecht will kick off their first games of the new Jupiler Pro campaign as odds on favourites to collect three points at RAAL La Louviere’s expense, though we expect margins at the Lotto Park to be slim.

When the teams last met at the same venue in February, the spoils were shared following a drab 0-0 draw, while a 91st-minute strike from Ibrahim Kanate separated the sides in their reverse fixture (1-0) a few months before that in November (2025).

This dogged La Louviere side shipped just 1.23 goals per game on average in the league last term, despite a low 14th-place finish, and they know how to set up to frustrate their hosts this weekend.

In addition, Anderlecht have scored just once in three of their last four matches (inc. three Europa League qualifiers and one friendly), which suggests they lack the firepower to rack up big numbers in this weekend’s opener.

Recommended bet: Under 2.5 Goals – 10/13

Benfica vs Academico Viseu (Portugal Primeira Liga) - 20:30

Academico Viseu have earned promotion back to the top tier of Portuguese football for the first time in 37 years, however, a trip to play Benfica on Sunday represents the toughest of starts for the minnows, who could be on the end of an opening-day hiding.

Benfica have been playing with a real swagger since returning to competitive action this summer. Under new manager Marco Silva, they hammered St. Gallen (5-0) and Hearts (6-1) in successive Europa League qualifiers and they could cut loose in similar style this weekend.

As Águias hit double-figures for shots on target in both of those wide-margin victories and registered 14 big chances and a combined xG of 7.67 across those continental tests.

Benfica’s players already look like they are enjoying life under Silva and they are priced generously to net over 2.5 goals for the third game running under their new taskmaster.

Recommended bet: Over 2.5 Benfica Goals – 4/6
