Chesterfield vs Tranmere Rovers (Saturday, 12:30 pm)

Chesterfield assistant manager Danny Webb lamented his team’s lengthy list of missed chances following the Spireites’ 2-1 loss at Cheltenham last weekend. That reverse ended a four-game winning run in all competitions, though their overall display held promise despite the eventual defeat.

Tranmere also put in a strong shift when last seen and came within a whisker of ending Walsall’s unbeaten start to the season, before the Saddlers notched an injury-time leveller. Rovers have lost only once in eight League Two assignments under summer hire Darrell Clarke and they could dig in for a point at the SMH Group Stadium.

Score prediction: Chesterfield 1-1 Tranmere Rovers

Accrington Stanley vs Cheltenham Town (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

Injury-troubled Accrington Stanley gave a good account of themselves in last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Swindon, and scored one of the quickest goals of the League Two campaign so far through Josh Woods’s 21-second opener. The Accies are back on home soil on Saturday, where they have yet to lose (W1, D3)

First-half goals from Charlie McCann and Andi Weimann helped Cheltenham to a narrow win over Chesterfield (2-1) last week, which pushed them up to second place in the table. They were second best for large parts of that game however, conceding five big chances and 2.262 in expected goals against, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if they dropped points against Stanley.

Score prediction: Accrington Stanley 2-2 Cheltenham Town

Crewe Alexandra vs Bristol Rovers (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

True to form, draw specialists Crewe picked up a point after a low-key contest at Rotherham (1-1) last time out, and that was Alexandra’s sixth tie in eight League Two matches since the start of the new campaign. Crewe didn’t register a single shot on target against the Millers however, and needed an own goal to earn a share of the spoils.

Bristol Rovers meanwhile, made history last weekend by winning an 11th straight home league fixture at the Memorial Ground. Fabrizio Cavegn's 67th-minute strike was enough to see off Exeter, however, Rovers are a different beast on the road, where they’ve lost three times in four tests. That record suggests more points could slip at Crewe.

Score prediction: Crewe Alexandra 1-1 Bristol Rovers

Exeter City vs Rotherham United (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

Exeter were outclassed by Bristol Rovers (0-1) last weekend and remain just above the drop zone, having won only once in eight attempts in League Two this term. Manager Matt Taylor thinks inexperience is costing his team, though goal-scoring is another major issue and the Grecians have failed to score in each of their last four league games.

Rotherham huffed and puffed in attack in their 1-1 draw with Crewe when last seen, though their defensive work seems to be improving. They shipped just two goals in their last three matches in league and cup combined, while only six sides in League Two have conceded fewer shots on target in total (28). Goals could be thin on the ground in this one.

Score prediction: Exeter City 0-1 Rotherham United

Gillingham vs Newport County (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

Gillingham hadn’t lost since the opening weekend of the new campaign ahead of last weekend’s trip to York, though the Gills suffered a confidence-denting 3-0 loss against their newly-promoted hosts. Gillingham didn’t land a single shot on target in that convincing loss, while they also lost Zane Albarus to a second-half red card in a nightmare outing at the LNER Community Stadium.

Newport meanwhile, secured their first win since the opening weekend with their surprise 2-1 triumph over high-flying Grimsby last time out. The Exiles remain unbeaten at home, however, their away results continue to slump. They lost three and drew one of their first four League Two away tests of the season, and they might toil again at Priestfield, where Gillingham have won twice on the spin.

Score prediction: Gillingham 2-1 Newport County

Grimsby Town vs Shrewsbury Town (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

Grimsby boss David Artell said he thought his team should have won against Newport last weekend, though the stats from the game said otherwise and the Mariners’ 2-1 loss was deserved on the balance of play. Still, Grimsby, who’ve pocketed ten points from 12 at home this term, will back themselves to recover on Saturday.

Shrewsbury thought they were on course for a third win of the season last week, when they got their noses in front in the 92nd minute against Colchester, however, the U’s still had just enough time to earn parity in a grandstand finish. The Shrews have been reliant on home fixtures for points. They’ve lost three times in four outings on the road and they are worth opposing on their travels again here.

Score prediction: Grimsby Town 2-0 Shrewsbury Town

Rochdale vs Swindon Town (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

Rochdale caught Fleetwood cold last weekend, scoring twice inside the first 14 minutes of the game through Dajaune Brown and Aden Flint, before holding on to claim a surprise 2-1 win, despite playing the final 20 minutes with ten men. Buoyed by that triumph, the Dale will be lining up a third home victory in four fixtures when they host Swindon on Saturday.

The Robins have hit a slump and their 1-1 draw with Accrington Stanley last time out pushed their winless run to five matches in league and cup, with four of those ending in defeat. Swindon’s away form has been particularly dreadful, with Town collecting just one of the 12 points on offer from their first four road tests. That record suggests Rochdale can take command this weekend.

Score prediction: Rochdale 2-1 Swindon Town

Salford City vs Fleetwood Town (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

Salford are starting to find their flow and their superb 4-1 win at Oldham last weekend was their fourth victory in their last five League Two fixtures, a run that has catapulted them up to 7th spot while leaving their slow start firmly in the rearview mirror. A fourth successive win on home turf could be in the works on Saturday.

Fleetwood were punished for a sluggish start last time out and were two goals down in rapid time in their 2-1 loss at home to Rochdale. That was Town’s second defeat in a row in League Two and their third reverse on the trot if you include their slip against Oldham in the EFL Trophy. Fleetwood are meeting Salford at an inopportune time, so don’t be shocked if they come unstuck again.

Score prediction: Salford City 2-1 Fleetwood Town
