Aston Villa fear Konsa exit as Super Cup squad is trimmed

Aston Villa and adidas have unveiled the 2026/27 third kit, inspired by the Holte End. Villa wore it first against Bayern Munich and will also use it in the UEFA Super Cup.
Villa’s pre-season friendly with Bayern Munich kicks off at 8pm local time, 1pm BST, in Hong Kong. UK fans can watch via VillaTV, with audio commentary and local radio updates available.
Villa left out youngsters George Hemmings and Brian Madjo from their Super Cup squad. Johan Manzambi also misses out through injury, while A-list places are already full.
From a Villa angle, Arsenal’s pursuit of Ezri Konsa faces Liverpool competition, but Villa’s £60m valuation is said to be above what Arsenal are willing to pay.
Triston Rowe has emerged as a left-back option for Villa after a strong pre-season. Emery used the natural right-back there, with his Annecy loan showing both defensive solidity and attacking intent.
Villa ended their Asia tour with a 2-1 defeat by Bayern in Hong Kong. Kim Minjae and Luis Díaz scored before João Gomes struck, and Manuel Neuer denied Tammy Abraham late on.
Villa fear losing Ezri Konsa after the exits of Tielemans and Rogers. Matteo Ruggeri is close, Nicolas Jackson interest may be blocked by UEFA swap rules, and Johan Manzambi is injured.
