The domestic season in England is up and running but the Premier League's big kick-off is still a little way in the distance and that means many top teams are still engaged in glamour pre-season encounters.

They include double European champions Paris Saint-Germain facing Manchester United and another French side, Monaco, visiting Merseyside to face Liverpool.

Here, we take a look at some of the fixtures taking place this week as teams look to finalise their plans and tactics for the big kick-off.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Manchester United (4pm, Saturday)

Luis Enrique's PSG are not over-indulging in the pre-season friendly sphere.

They lost 3-0 against Segunda Division Mallorca on Wednesday and this clash with Man Utd, which is being played in Gothenburg, is their final outing before facing Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup on August 12.

World Cup stars Vitinha, Joao Neves and Nuno Mendes are set to return to the squad here, while the Champions League winners have so far added only highly-rated teenage goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni from AC Milan to their ranks.

A Bryan Mbeumo double helped the Red Devils defeat Atletico Madrid in Stockholm last time out, while before that they put five past Rosenborg.

Ousmane Dembele, Bradley Barcola, Desire Doue, Achraf Hakimi and Fabian Ruiz are still missing for PSG and Michael Carrick's side might be best equipped for this test.

Score prediction: Paris Saint-Germain 1-2 Manchester United

Atletico Madrid vs Manchester City (12pm, Sunday)

Enzo Maresca's Manchester City face Atletico in Madrid Seoul on Sunday following on from a 3-1 win over the K-League All Stars in midweek in which Rayan Ait-Nouri and Tijjani Reijnders were among the goalscorers.

Star striker Erling Haaland has not made the journey to Asia after his exploits for Norway at the World Cup finals.

Atleti led early against Man Utd in Sweden through Arnau Ortiz, but were defeated in the second half and Diego Simeone's side can earn a stalemate in South Korea.

Score prediction: Manchester City 2-2 Atletico Madrid

Liverpool vs Monaco (2.30pm, Sunday)

Andoni Iraola has taken charge of three friendlies in the United States so far, the latest a 4-2 defeat against Leeds in Chicago and now the new Liverpool boss gets to walk out at Anfield for the first time.

He will be hoping to get some more experience into the centre of his defence after Luke Chambers (22) and Ifeanyi Ndukwe (18) started the last two games.

Monaco were 1-0 winners against Getafe on Thursday, a penalty from Paris Brunner, in a game where they made 11 subs in the second half and had one of them – Christian Mawissa – sent off.

Score prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Monaco

Arsenal vs Como (7.30pm, Wednesday)

Arsenal also host Borussia Dortmund at the Emirates on Sunday, but the visit of Serie A side Como is intriguing as it brings former Gunners skipper Cesc Fabregas back to North London.

The ambitious Italian outfit finished fourth last season, pipping AC Milan on the final day, and are set for Champions League participation for the first time in their history.

There have been 15 goals in Como's four friendlies so far, while the Gunners beat Girona 4-1 before a 3-1 loss against Real Betis in Dublin ahead of facing Dortmund here.

Score prediction: Arsenal 2-2 Como

Coventry City vs Monaco (7pm, Friday)

A week out from visiting Premier League champions Arsenal in the curtain-raiser, Frank Lampard and his Coventry City side will tackle Monaco on Friday night at the CBS Arena.

Anticipation in the Midlands is fervent for their top flight return and this will be the second of two tests against Spanish opposition as Espanyol visit on Saturday.

Monaco are completing their Ligue 1 prep with two games in England, this following on from Sunday's clash with Liverpool.

Score prediction: Coventry 1-2 Monaco
