Video: Vialli given standing ovation in emotional tribute from Juventus teammates

The stars of the 1996 Champions League-winning Juventus squad came together to honour the memory of their teammate Gianluca Vialli in a moving tribute at the Festival dello Sport in Trento this weekend.

The annual Festival dello Sport took place in Trento over the weekend, an event typically organised during the international break featuring legendary guest speakers from football and the world of Italian sport.

Sunday’s session brought together a collection of Juventus’s Champions League-winning squad from 1996, namely Ciro Ferrara, Massimo Carrera, Angelo Di Livio, Michele Padovano, Angelo Peruzzi, Gianluca Pessotto and Michelangelo Rampulla. Paulo Sousa and Fabrizio Ravanelli also joined in via a video call.

There was a particularly touching moment at the end of their talk, when the legends gathered at the centre of the stage and unveiled a Juventus shirt with ‘Vialli 9’ printed on the back in honour of their legendary captain.

This led to a surging round of applause and a standing ovation from all of the spectators inside the auditorium.
