Video: substitutes lead Juventus to crack Parma's code

Juventus saw off Parma 2-0 at the Allianz Stadium, breaking down their visitors' compact defending after a goalless first half. Substitute Nicolas Gonzalez struck in the second period, before Teun Koopmeiners doubled the lead on his first appearance since replacing the injured Andrea Cambiaso. Luciano Spalletti's side made it two straight Serie A wins to maintain their strong start. Parma, meanwhile, failed to score for the second match running.

Juventus pressure and Parma's warning

Juventus started on the front foot, Manuel Locatelli and Douglas Luiz controlling possession in midfield while Francisco Conceicao tormented the Parma defence down the right. Luiz dragged a shot past the post in the 27th minute. Conceicao then rattled the outside of the woodwork with a fierce effort six minutes later.

Parma had already fired two warning shots of their own. Cristian Ordonez wasted a chance in the 13th minute, and two minutes later Ablal Toure whipped a dangerous cross towards Simone Lontani, but nobody could turn it home.

Jonathan David almost put the hosts ahead in the second minute of first-half stoppage time. Locatelli and Randal Kolo Muani combined to tee him up, only for the Parma defence to block his shot. The teams went in level at the break.

González opens the way

Juventus came out for the second half at a quicker tempo. Kolo Muani squandered two chances in the 56th minute before Spalletti sent on Nicolas Gonzalez for David in the 57th. The substitute wasted no time making his mark. His first effort in the 61st minute drifted just wide, but a minute later he broke the deadlock: his shot cannoned off the post and he followed up to bury the rebound. Juventus pressed for a second, only for Kolo Muani to fluff a one-on-one in the 70th minute as Parma goalkeeper Edoardo Corvi stood tall to deny him. Parma, by contrast, rarely troubled Guglielmo Vicario. Their balls had reached the hosts' box just nine times by the 72nd minute.

Kopmeiners wraps up the mission

Spalletti reshuffled his pack on 86 minutes, hauling off the injured Cambiaso for Koopmeiners. Two minutes later, the Dutchman put the game to bed. Kolo Muani found Locatelli, who slipped in Koopmeiners on the left of the box, and the substitute curled a precise left-footed finish into the bottom corner for the second on 88 minutes. Parma pushed for a way back in the closing stages but never fashioned a genuine opening. Abdou Salam Konaté went into the book in the 90+3 minute for a foul on Kolo Muani, and Juventus saw out a 2-0 win.
