Tuttosport: Milan ready new assault for Sporting CP star after €40m summer bid

One of the names that seemingly will not go away when it comes to AC Milan and potential signings is Goncalo Inacio.

Despite the fact that the summer window closed less than one month ago and club football is on pause for the international break, there continues to be rumours swirling about future business that Milan could do.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) write this morning, there’s still over three months until the winter window, but the Milan management are considering returning to the fray for a player they’ve been following closely this summer: Gonçalo Inacio of Sporting CP.

Second time lucky?

The paper recall that Milan attempted a decisive attack at the end of August with a €40m offer to the Portuguese club, which accepted the offer provided a suitable replacement was found in the final hours of the summer window.

However, Sporting failed to do so, thus blocking the departure of Inacio. The Rossoneri haven’t stopped thinking about the centre-back though, whom Amorim knows well, having been the one who launched him into the first team in the 2020-21 season.

They are also represented by the same agency, AS1, which could help things. Contact with his entourage has never been interrupted, and the feeling is that a new attempt will be made in January, even though signing him will not be easy.

It will be necessary to understand whether the €40m accepted by the Lisbon club at the end of August will be enough mid-season, especially because Inacio is a key figure in Rui Borges’ team. His colleague Amorim, however, wants him and hopes he can be his late Christmas present.
