AC Milan are once again hoping to get some sales done quickly, but the incomings are unlikely to stop even after Diego Moreira’s arrival.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport confirms that agent Jorge Mendes spoke at length with the Milan management on Wednesday regarding the next steps to further meet the demands of the head coach Ruben Amorim.

Mendes is highly regarded by Gerry Cardinale and he remained at the Rossoneri headquarters for over six hours, leaving shortly before 21:30 CEST. It was a lengthy stay, which strongly resembled a strategic meeting regarding the next steps.

Two more pieces

While waiting to trim the squad, there are still a few pieces that need to be put in place. First and foremost, in defence, Mendes wants a centre-back who is preferably left-footed and able to play both in the middle and in place of Strahinja Pavlovic.

The dream remains the one from the start of the transfer window: Sporting CP star Gonçalo Inacio, the top pick for Amorim. There is also Pedro Goncalves for the attacking midfield position, another player the coach knows well.

Two obstacles emerge here, one directly linked to the other. During this transfer window, Sporting have already sold Trincao, Hjulmand, Diomande and Quenda, and losing another big name could be damaging. Not even Mendes’ work is likely to lower the asking price given these conditions.

Although Matias Soulé’s name has somewhat cooled in the offices of Casa Milan in recent days, his profile should be constantly kept in mind for a potential opportunity in the final days of the transfer window, especially after Roma got Rodrigo Mora.
