Tuttosport: Amorim impressed by trio in Milan’s friendly test against Padova
Ruben Amorim received positive indications from Matteo Gabbia, Christian Comotto, and Omari Hutchinson in yesterday’s friendly against Padova, according to a report.
Given that this international break is much longer than usual, Amorim and Milan decided to schedule a friendly against the Serie B side Padova yesterday. The game finished 1-1 after a goal from Lorenzo Ossola, but the scoreline wasn’t the most important thing anyway.
More importantly, it was a chance for Amorim to field some of the players who haven’t had that much playing time so far this season. Furthermore, it also helped those who weren’t called up for international duty to stay active.
Opportunity seized
According to today’s edition of Tuttosport, as cited by MilanNews, the overall assessment of the game was positive. However, three players stood out to Amorim and thus made the most of the opportunity: Gabbia, Comotto and Hutchinson.
Gabbia showed that his ankle is no longer an issue, having spent some time on the sidelines, while Comotto moved well in midfield. Hutchinson was very active up front and linked up a lot with Christian Pulisic, who played as a striker in the 4-2-3-1 formation.
It’s also worth noting that Fikayo Tomori got the chance, starting as a right-back. If you want to read more about the formation switch, Oliver took a closer look at how that might be the way to go for Milan moving forward.
