TMW: Juventus emerge as contenders for Milan midfielder – Spalletti gives approval
Juventus continue to monitor the free transfer market with great attention, and AC Milan’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek has ended up on their list.
Loftus-Cheek is tied to Milan until the end of the season, and according to TMW his future seems increasingly distant from Milan. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that his contract is not expected to be renewed and that, barring any changes, Loftus-Cheek will leave the Rossoneri on a free.
This situation could inevitably turn the 30-year-old Englishman into a transfer opportunity. Juventus are among the clubs paying attention to the situation, and Luciano Spalletti has apparently already expressed his approval of the potential move.
The Bianconeri coach has shown he appreciates the type of player RLC: physically strong and versatile. Speaking about Juventus’ summer window, Spalletti had emphasised the importance of bringing in players accustomed to ‘fast and physical’ football.
Loftus-Cheek fits this profile, at least on paper. In a Juventus side that will inevitably need to increase its midfield options – especially after the numerous physical issues they have suffered at the start of the season – a player with these characteristics could become a useful solution for Spalletti.
Milan seem to have decided that Loftus-Cheek can leave, despite the fact he has made five appearances so far this season, three as a starter. The Rossoneri are keen to shed his €4m net salary, but the former Chelsea man might not have to leave Italy after all.
