On Olivier Giroud’s 40th birthday, he has looked at some of the best players he’s played with, including one from AC Milan.

Giroud is still a reference point for many Milanisti. He’s seen as the last true striker that Milan had, the last one to guarantee goals and whilst the hope is that Goncalo Ramos becomes the next, until he does, Giroud will continue to be the one.

He’s the one to have broken the No.9 curse that haunted the club for years – and has haunted them since – and that holds a significant weight. He also clearly knew what it meant to play at San Siro and scored some vital goals.

Giroud’s ‘best teammate’ admission

In an interview with L’Equipe to celebrate his 40th birthday, the Frenchman was asked about the best players that he’s shared a dressing room with. Of course, there are some legendary names among them and his answer about his time with the Rossoneri is not a shock, as MilanNews relayed.

“At Arsenal, Cazorla: exceptional technical quality with both feet. And then Özil. At Chelsea, Hazard, Willian, Pedro, and those six months with Fabregas, who had the same intelligence as Cazorla. In defence, the toughest in training were David Luiz, Koscielny, Rüdiger, Azpilicueta… real soldiers.

“At Milan, I played with Rafa Leao, a pure talent who is having the career he deserves. And then Ibrahimovic, of course!”
