Stroppa previews Milan clash and discusses respect for Amorim: “We need to score”
Tomorrow night, AC Milan will take on Serie A newbies Venezia and head coach Giovanni Stroppa has previewed the game.
After their win against Torino, the expectation is that Milan will comfortably beat Venezia on Matchday 2. It’s a strange feeling, heading into the second matchday with three points already in the bag.
Yet, here we are.
Indeed, Ruben Amorim has already gotten the Rossoneri playing his style of football – comfortably, too, which matters – and the deeper into the season we get, it should only become more prominent.
Tomorrow’s game against Venezia should be a continuation of what was seen against Manchester United and Toro last weekend and San Siro will expect to see three points.
Stroppa previews San Siro visit
Speaking to the media this afternoon, a few hours after Amorim did, Stroppa looked at the challenge of facing Milan in their home debut of the 2026/27 season and what he will ask from his team, as MilanPress relays.
“At San Siro, we’ll try to play our game, keeping in mind the context and the team we’re playing against. I hope to play the same game we did against Lecce in terms of attitude, courage, and focus.
“It will certainly be important not to make mistakes because we’re facing a team with a strong individual profile, which can make the difference at any moment. We’ll need to be extremely focused on every ball.
“For our part, if we work as a team, with courage, and show our strengths, when we have the ball, something will happen. I want a team that is focused, in every part, from the first to the last minute.
“We’re continuing to work, without being influenced by Sunday’s result and taking as a benchmark the many good things we’ve done. Then, of course, we need to score.”
“You always have to believe in yourself, having the right respect for your opponent. We’re calm and relaxed because the path we need to take is clear.
“I have great respect for Amorim; they have a great identity. I think there are similarities between the two teams, both in terms of their defensive set-up and their overall style of play.”
