Djed Spence’s four years at Tottenham are over. Inter Milan have completed a £30m deal for the England full-back, with Spurs inserting a 10 per cent sell-on clause, according to Sky Sports.

Spence was given permission to travel to Italy on Friday for a medical while the two clubs finalised terms. Sky Sports News reported that a total package of £30m was agreed. Inter had been looking for a new right wing-back and turned to Spence after struggling to strike a deal for Al Ittihad’s Moussa Diaby.

The move ends a spell in which Spence faced competition on both flanks at Spurs. Pedro Porro was the first-choice right-back, while Destiny Udogie, Andy Robertson, Souza and Ben Davies could all play at left-back. That competition was the backdrop to his departure.

Farewell message and return to Italy

Spence posted a farewell message to supporters on X, thanking staff, teammates and fans while saying Tottenham would always have a place in his heart.

Italy is not new territory for Spence. He spent six months on loan at Genoa from January 2024 and was keen on the Inter move after that spell. Spurs signed him from Middlesbrough in July 2022 in a deal worth up to £20m.

What Spurs do next at right-back

Sky Sports reported that Tottenham have been preparing for Spence’s departure and already have potential replacements in mind. The club are considering their right-back options following the sale.
