Spalletti discusses ‘strong’ Milan under Amorim and confirms Juve’s long injury list

Luciano Spalletti has confirmed that Juventus will have a lot of players on the injury list tomorrow evening, taking on AC Milan at home.

Just like Milan, Juventus have started the season well with six points clinched after two games. In front of their home fans tomorrow evening, they will be looking to make it nine, but Milan are eager to do the same and spoil the party at Allianz Stadium.

For both sides, this is definitely a big test to understand where they stand after many changes during the summer. Milan have changed a little more with the appointment of Ruben Amorim, but Juventus brought in quite a lot of new players.

Spalletti’s pre-match words

Speaking at his press conference (via Sky Italia), Spalletti echoed what Amorim said earlier today about it being a great game. He also confirmed the players that will miss the game, with none of the injured players making it back in time.

AC Milan are visiting tomorrow, fresh from two wins. Can you tell us about the game?

“They have a coach with clear ideas who has managed to build a strong team. His playing principles are already very recognisable. He’s a coach who has made a name for himself since he was at Sporting.

“Milan is an immediate, vertical team that goes straight to the point, with very quick turnarounds. It’s a great match because it’s Juventus-Milan, and of course we’ll try to play the game, to express our desire to try and win.”

I don’t know if you heard what Chivu said. Is Juve-Milan a direct clash? How did you react to this provocation?

“It seemed to me that Chivu spoke his mind and was sincere. I like sincere people. His words are nothing special; they should be a further incentive to give even more. There’s nothing to criticise about Chivu’s words.”

Could Woltemade already be in the lineup? How do you plan to use him?

“Initially, I’m thinking of not starting him, but we have signed him and we have faith in him, so he might come on during the game.

“He’s a player who knows how to play in a two-man attack, because he’s a player who roams around, also because he creates space to attack. He can play very well with Kolo Muani. Let’s see how he does in practice.”

Can you give us an update on the injured players?

“No one will be back in time. Cabal is also injured. Cabal, Cambiaso, Sarr, McKennie, then Thuram, Yildiz, and Ekhator. We hope to have a couple of them back for next week because they would be useful.”
