Serie A | Genoa 1-4 Como: Fabregas cool comeback victory
Como fought back from a debut Milutin Osmajic goal to crush Genoa 4-1, including an Assane Diao brace, Martin Baturina and Nico Paz, with Moise Kean providing an assist.
The Lariani were fresh from a 2-1 victory away to Napoli, plus deadline day signings Moise Kean and Robert Sanchez on the bench waiting for their debuts. Only Jayden Addai remained on the treatment table. Genoa were in crisis after losing to both Napoli and Lazio without scoring a goal, as Lorenzo Venturino, Joi Nuredini, Hamed Traore and Elias Havel were still out of action, but Djibril Sow and Milutin Osmajic got their first starts.
Justin Bijlow fingertipped a Yan Couto curler out from under the bar, then got his glove to a Nico Paz screamer from distance, but it was Genoa who took the lead against the run of play.
Lorenzo Colombo burst down the left against a high Como line and rolled it across for former Preston North End striker Osmajic to get ahead of Trevoh Chalobah and sweep in from close range.
Como drew level when Martin Baturina drilled a right-foot strike into the far bottom corner from well outside the penalty area.
The game was turned on its head as Leo Ostigard only grazed his head to an Alex Valle cross, allowing Assane Diao to keep his volley down at the back post.
Como went into the break 3-1 up, as after a long spell of possession, Yan Couto dinked a ball over the top for Nico Paz, who took a touch with his left foot, let it bounce, and fired into the near top corner with his right.
Tasos Douvikas saw his header skim the bar before making way for debutant Moise Kean, while Kingsley Ehizibue came on for his first Genoa appearance too.
It was very nearly 1-4 when Nico Paz gathered a weak clearance and smashed his first-time strike onto the upright from the edge of the area.
Kean made his mark on his debut, combining with Maxence Caqueret in midfield to sprint forward, then generously rolling across for Diao to finish with the angled drive and complete his brace.
Junior Messias threatened an audacious goal with his back-heel flick just wide on a corner in the final minute, but Genoa have lost their first three games of the Serie A season.
