Romano: Fofana left Milan on dry loan with Sevilla paying 8% of his salary – the details

AC Milan loaned out Youssouf Fofana in the summer mercato, but the terms are certainly not good-looking from the side of the Rossoneri.

Last-minute deals in the mercato normally go one way or the other. You either overpay for a necessity or underpay to get someone else’s castaways.

Sometimes, there’s the middle ground of a deal happening because you’ve been forced to act, but it doesn’t always work and/or happen (look at Milan’s pursuit of Goncalo Inacio).

With Fofana, it was very much a case of parting on deadline day urgently. With him in the ‘bomb squad’ and after a deal fell through earlier that day, the Rossoneri were keen to make an exit happen and it appears that they were looking to do so on any terms.

Fofana’s loan deal details

As MilanNews relays, Fabrizio Romano provided an update on the loan deal which took Fofana to Spain in his WhatsApp group and it’s fair to say that the deal looks rather desperate from the Diavolo’s side.

“Youssouf Fofana operation: Sevilla’s communication about the deal with Milan on the occasion of his presentation. The Spanish club is paying 8% of the midfielder’s salary to Milan, while there is no payment of his salary. There is NO option to buy included in the deal. Fofana to Sevilla on a dry loan.”
