Adrien Rabiot spoke to the media ahead of AC Milan’s away game against Lazio tonight, back in the heart of the midfield after playing further up the pitch.

While the performance against his former side Juventus perhaps wasn’t fantastic, Rabiot is undoubtedly one of the key players for Milan this season. Not only does he add a lot of experience, but he’s also proven that he can be dangerous inside the penalty box.

Having said that, it seems Ruben Amorim has moved away from the attacking midfielder experiment for the Frenchman. He’s starting alongside Luka Modric today, as opposed to behind the striker, which suggests the head coach feels he could do an even better job there.

Rabiot’s pre-match comments

Speaking to DAZN just a few minutes ago, as transcribed by MilanNews, Rabiot was asked about his position and made it clear that he can play in both roles.

What’s Amorim’s football like? And what is your position?

“When I arrived, we talked about my position on the pitch, both as an attacking midfielder and a midfielder, so I’ve been training more or less alternating between the two roles. It also depends on how they want me to play on the weekend in question and what the team needs.

“Personally, I feel good both in midfield and a little higher up the pitch, and then I always try to give my all. In Turin, I didn’t perform well, partly because my physical condition still isn’t at 100% yet.

“Today, I will play with Modric in midfield, a position I know better and that I like. The individual aspect doesn’t matter much. We will all try to do well as a team and win,” he stated.
